A TELL-TALE HEART Beats For Public PlayTime October 22

Pittsburgh Public Theater will present Alec Silberblatt's new rendering of Edgar Allan Poe's stories, A Tell-Tale Heart as part of the Public PlayTime: Classics N'at benefit series October 22-25. Nearly 24,000 audience members have joined the virtual benefit series since its inception in March.

AN ACTOR'S CAROL Announced At The Ivoryton Playhouse

The Ivoryton Playhouse provides a fresh take on Dickens's timeless A Christmas Carol with their production of Charles Evered's An Actor's Carol from December 13 -December 22. It tells the tale of Hugh Pendleton, an actor drained of artistic passion after having played the character of Scrooge one too many times, which leads to Pendleton encountering three ghosts of his own. A cast of 4 actors plays 17 different characters in this hilarious new look at a classic that reminds us that the most jaded among us can find magic in the holiday season- and in the theater as well!

City Theatre Announces Momentum Reading Series

City Theatre is excited to kick off to the 2018/19 Momentum Reading Series with Isaac Gomez's PerKup Elkhorn. Set in the small Wisconsin town of Elkhorn in the aptly named PerKup Coffee shop, owner Lori and her pal Vicki are testing out the market for cold brew and debating swinging by the local RibFest with Vicki's' husband Jeff and their recently returned childhood friend, Eric. Something shifts when newcomer Pedro visits the shop to use the Wi-Fi and touch base with his job in Chicago. The ensuing encounter will forever alter these five interwoven lives in this searing portrait of present day America.

Written by Alec Silberblatt and directed by Daniella Caggiano, The Angel of Allegheny County is truly a theatrical work of art that is a mix of so many significant elements. It is an intricate play that compels audiences to not only think about what is right and wrong, but also the human capability to create the grey matter in between. Each character understands her place in the world and the limits that status sets, but each nonetheless finds the loophole that gives them more power over something not meant to be in her control.

BILOXI BLUES by Neil Simon Comes to the Ivoryton Playhouse

The Ivoryton Playhouse is leaving behind the music of Ol' Blue Eyes and heading south to the steamy bayou country of Biloxi, Mississippi with the opening of Neil Simon's BILOXI BLUES on April 26th. This semi-autobiographical play details his experiences as a young man in boot camp before he was shipped off to serve in the Second World War.BILOXI BLUES is the second chapter in what is known as his Eugene trilogy, following Brighton Beach Memoirs and preceding Broadway Bound, and is the only one in which Eugene is not the central character. BILOXI BLUES won the Tony Award when it opened on Broadway in 1985 and ran 524 performances.

BWW Review: BAD JEWS at GSP is Comedy at its Best

'Bad Jews' is now being performed at George Street Playhouse (GSP) through April 9th. Written by Joshua Harmon, the play features superb direction by Jessica Stone. Metro area audiences will thrill to the excellent staging and stellar cast that brings this play to life.
