The annual Marcia Quick Gard Theatre Arts Scholarship was founded and funded in 2018 by Larry Gard in memory of his wife and her life-long commitment to excellence as an actor.  The scholarship offers awards of both $1,000 and $500 to university level theatre students who intend to become professional actors.  The funds are intended to provide financial support for the recipients' education expenses. Richmond, Virginia's Firehouse Theatre, a theatre known for producing new and groundbreaking plays, is currently producing the world premiere of Chandler Hubbard's intense drama, ANIMAL CONTROL. Fifth Wall, another regional theatre in Richmond, initially held a reading of the play. The script, written by University of Virginia graduate and local playwright/actor Hubbard, has a clear message that's relevant to today's contentious sociopolitical landscape. The writer wants audiences to examine their own lives and the lives of others more closely to find similarities that connect us rather than differences that divide us. (more...)

LAZARUS SYNDROME, an acclaimed new comedy by Bruce Ward about the power of faith and family, is Richmond Triangle Players' entry into the city-wide Acts of Faith festival.  The production opens Thursday, February 25 at 8 pm, following a low-priced preview on Wednesday, February 24 at 8 pm.  RTP's production is the play's second, following its premiere at DC's Theatre Alliance in 2007.
