CSC's Opens THREE SISTERS, 1/12

Classic Stage Company (CSC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, will present Anton Chekhov's THREE SISTERS, featuring 2010 Academy Award nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal (Masha), Josh Hamilton (Andre) 2010 Tony Award nominee Jessica Hecht (Olga) and acclaimed actor Peter Sarsgaard (Vershinin).

CSC Presents HAROLD BLOOM: ON SHAKESPEARE’S LATE & LOST WORK Benefit 2/7

Harold Bloom, America's leading literary critic and author of the best-seller 'Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human," will join Classic Stage Company Artistic Director Brian Kulick in a rare public appearance on Monday evening, February 7 at 7 pm at CSC (136 East 13th Street) as a special one-night-only event to benefit CSC's ongoing Shakespeare programming.

Lance Horne Announces Album Release 1/11

Lance Horne will release his first album, LANCE HORNE: FIRST THINGS LAST, on January 11, 2011. The album will be released on Yellow Sound Label/Warner Brothers, and features songs sung by artists including Alan Cumming, Amanda Palmer, Cheyenne Jackson, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Ricki Lake, Meow Meow, Lea DeLaria, and Alexandra Silber.

While many children's shows have come and gone, The Electric Company is a franchise that has staying power. In a class by itself, this Emmy Award-winning series is set to launch season three February 7 with 12 new episodes airing every Monday on PBS KIDS GO!

CSC Extends THREE SISTERS, with Gyllenhaal, Hecht, et al. Through 3/6

Classic Stage Company (CSC) under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, has extended the run of its highly-anticipated production of Anton Chekhov's THREE SISTERS through Sunday, March 6 due to strong ticket demand. The production, which begins previews this coming Wednesday, January 12, features Maggie Gyllenhaal (Masha), Josh Hamilton (Andre), Jessica Hecht (Olga), Marin Ireland (Natasha), Juliet Rylance (Irina) and Peter Sarsgaard (Vershinin). Also featured in the cast are Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Tuesenbach), Anson Mount (Solyony), Roberta Maxwell (Anfisa), Louis Zorich (Chebutykin), George Morfogen (Ferapont), Paul Lazar (Kulygin), Gabe Bettio (Rode) and James Patrick Nelson (Fedotik). No further extension will be possible.

Aiken, Cumming et al. to Perform at BROADWAY BACKWARDS 6

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (the Center) announced today that BROADWAY BACKWARDS 6, the only Broadway event custom-made for the gay and lesbian community, its friends and families, will feature 'American Idol' runner-up Clay Aiken (Spamalot) and Tony winners Alan Cumming (Cabaret and CBS's 'The Good Wife') and Denis O'Hare (Take Me Out and HBO's 'True Blood').

Updated: Julie Taymor Cancels on NY Times Talks Event

Though no official cancellation notice has gone up on the NYT Arts & Leisure Weekend's web site for a scheduled conversation on January 8th between Patrick Healy of the Times and currently troubled SPIDER-MAN director Julie Taymor, ticket buyers are telling us that they received a refund notice yesterday and the event is no longer on sale, marked as cancelled on the ticket sales web site.

(check your local listings) just 40 short years after the show's critically-acclaimed debut. Produced by Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, the new season of the innovative program stays relevant by continuing its focus on literacy and highlighting the vocabulary of mathematics. The modern adaptation of the daily half-hour show comes back with new original animations, toe-tapping music videos and exciting narrative storylines. Plus, two new characters and an all new celebrity line-up are sure to get kids hollering, 'Hey You GUUUUUYYS!'
