BWW Review: The Alley Theatre Presents a Challenging Portrait of the U.S. in AMERIKIN

There's a question at the heart of Chisa Hutchison Amerikin. Should we sympathize with hateful people? The piece in many ways acts as an exercise in empathy. We have characters willing to do reprehensible things yet suffer great turmoil. Do they deserve sympathy? If they do, whose job is it to give it to them?

World Premiere of AMERIKIN at the Alley Theatre to be Directed by James Black

The Tony Award®-winning Alley Theatre has announced the cast and creative team of Chisa Hutchinson’s world premiere drama Amerikin. The play is directed by former Resident Acting Company Emeritus member James Black and runs February 11 – March 13, 2022 in the Neuhaus Theatre.

SWEAT Now on Stage at the Alley Theatre

Sweat, by Lynn Nottage and directed by Rob Melrose, is now on stage at the Alley Theatre, running through October 24, 2021.

Running through March 3rd at Queensbury Theatre, the world premiere of FOR TONIGHT explores a tale of difference and divide, framed within a full-circle love story. Written by Spencer Williams, Shenelle Salcido, and Whitney Rhodes with music and lyrics by Williams and Salcido, FOR TONIGHT displays a patchwork of styles and sounds, indicative of the cross-cultural focus of the show.

Sundance Film Festival Announces 2019 Film Lineup

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

2018 Alley ALL NEW FESTIVAL Begins This Saturday

The Alley Theatre's Alley All New Festival, January 20-28, 2018, features six playwrights and more than 30 actors from the Alley and around the country who will be presenting new work through a series of readings and workshop performances. In addition to Alley Resident Company members, many artists have existing connections to the Alley and some are making their Alley debut. The start of the festival will celebrate the reopening of the Neuhaus Theatre.
