Legendary Soprano Leontyne Price Honoured At 2019 International Opera Awards

Legendary soprano Leontyne Price was tonight [29 April 2019] awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award at the 2019 International Opera Awards (IOA) at a glittering red-carpet gala event at London's Sadler's Wells theatre. The Awards, considered opera's answer to the Oscars, celebrate achievements in opera around the globe over the last calendar year in a wide range of categories. The IOA acknowledged the pioneering singer's many achievements over her illustrious career, stating in a ground-breaking career that for the first time placed a great African-American artist at the very pinnacle of the operatic profession, both in her native United States and throughout Europe, Leontyne Price upheld the highest vocal standards that led to her receiving universal acclaim wherever and whatever she sang.

Austin Pendleton And Barbara Bleier Return To Pangea With HOW ABOUT LOVE?

Austin Pendleton and Barbara Bleier return to Pangea on May 7, 14 and 21, at 7 PM, with How About Love?, a brand new show about everything you always wanted to know about falling in (and out of) love, but were afraid to ask! Bleier and Pendleton, along with Barbara Maier Gustern and Paul Greenwood, will sing love songs (solos, duets, trios and quartets) by such composers as Richard Rodgers, Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kurt Weil, Jonathan Larson, Stephen Sondheim, Peter Larson, George and Ira Gershwin, Francesca Blumenthal and Tom Toce, among others. Paul Greenwood is the Musical Director, and Barbara Maier Gustern directs.

Aaron Lazar to Appear in Concert in Cincinnati

Ludlow Garage presents Aaron Lazar in his cabaret show Broadway to Hollywood for one performance only on Monday, May 6, 2019 8:00pm. Described by the Associated Press as a 'vocal powerhouse,' Lazar's show follows his career from stage to screen, with songs from his many Broadway credits (which include The Last Ship and A Little Night Music among others), a medley of film and musical theater classics, and more.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Broadway veteran Elizabeth Josephine 'Jo' Sullivan Loesser passed away yesterday, April 28, from heart failure in her New York City Home. She was 91 years old.

Nettle Creek Players Announce 2019 Season

Nettle Creek Players, a 501c3 not-for-profit arts organization in Hagerstown, Indiana, has announced its 2019 troupe of visiting professional theatre artists who will live in the community for nine weeks as they prepare and present the Nettle Creek Players 2019 Summer Stock Tent Theatre Season featuring productions of JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, GERSHWIN & FRIENDS: A BROADWAY SONGBOOK CABARET, and RUMPELSTILTSKIN, OR THE FAIRIE'S SECRET NAME. Performances of JOESPH will be at 7:30pm on July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27 & 5:00pm on July 7 with GERSHWIN & FRIENDS at 5:00pm on July 14, 21 & 28 and RUMPELSTILTSIKIN at 11:00am on July 20 & 27. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Announces Inaugural Women In Classical Music Symposium

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announced today the programming and guests for the inaugural Women in Classical Music Symposium. This intensive and comprehensive symposium, sponsored by J.P. Morgan, held November 6-9, 2019, in Dallas, Texas, will feature talks, a public keynote presentation and panel discussions on topics relevant to women in the classical music industry and their unique struggles and triumphs. The event will also include important networking opportunities and performances and will appeal to individuals in all roles of classical music - orchestra members, soloists, composers, conductors and administrators - with pathways for conversation and discussion.

International Performing Artist Yael Rasooly Comes to Don't Tell Mama

Internationally renowned, multiple award winning performer, Yael Rasooly, brings her newest cabaret show, Love Must Have an End, to Don't Tell Mama for two performances: May 9th at 7pm and May 11th at 4pm. The richly decadent world of the 1920s and '30s in Berlin and Paris is on dazzling display in this performance by Rasooly and Pianist, Daniel Rein. Audiences are invited into the vibrant world of the German cabaret before the Nazis rose to power, through the repertoire of Brecht and Weill, the Berlin cabaret songs, songs performed by Marlene Dietrich and the poetic French chansons of Edith Piaf. Rasooly and Rein tell the stories of the back streets and alleys, as well as the glamour and exuberance in the final years of the Weimar Republic - stories of longing, grief, love, passion, resilience and dreams in the fragile and powerful interval between the past and the future.

Francesca Capetta To Star In Jazz Concert In Hong Kong

Francesca Capetta will be performing in a jazz solo concert on April 25th 2018 at 8pm live in Hong Kong. The show, produced by the Jazz Club Peel Fresco, will include the most famous standard and jazz songs.

VIDEO: Todrick Hall Will Lead Regional Premiere of KINKY BOOTS at LA's 3-D Theatricals

3-D Theatricals will present the West Coast regional premiere of Kinky Boots, starring Broadway, YouTube and 'RuPaul's Drag Race' sensation, Todrick Hall as Lola, a part he first played in the long-running Broadway production. Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, this huge-hearted musical features a Tony Award-winning score by pop legend Cyndi Lauper and book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. The production will play February 14-March 1, 2020 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, in Cerritos, CA.

E! Greenlights New Series FLIP IT LIKE DISICK

E! is moving into the neighborhood of real estate and luxury renovation with the new series 'Flip It like Disick,' bringing viewers inside the lavish personal and professional world of Scott Disick, as he tackles his most extravagant endeavor yet; high-end home flipping and remodeling. Fueled by Disick's passion for property development, which began almost five years ago when he successfully flipped his first investment, this series follows him and his dynamic, hilarious and headstrong team, which includes former pop singer-turned-interior designer Willa Ford; Disick's best friend and business partner Benny Luciano; their all-star short-tempered contractor Miki Moor; and Disick's assistant Lindsay Diamond. The group will rely on Disick's eye for design as they look to convert unique home projects for his celebrity friends and family, including guestrooms, studios and his kids' playhouse at their mother Kourtney Kardashian's home, as well as transform an ambitious multi-million dollar property in Los Angeles. The eight-episode one-hour series will air later this summer.

Lisa Brigantino Announces Album Release Show At The Cutting Room, NYC

Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Lisa Brigantino is excited to announce her I'll Waltz Before I Go album release show and celebration at The Cutting Room, in New York City on Saturday, May 18th at 7:30pm. It will include songs from her recent album as well as select songs from previous albums. The show will run the gamut from solo voice and guitar and two and three part vocal harmony tunes to fully arranged band songs featuring performances by Thomas Millioto, Lori Brigantino, Susan Haefner, Gus Morgan, Claudia Glaser-Mussen, Mike Fornatale plus a special appearance by Terre Roche, founding member of The Roches.

Third Street Music School To Honor Arturo O'farrill, Emily Warren And Gus Wenner

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, Third Street Music School Settlement (Third Street), the nation's longest running community school, will honor Arturo O'Farrill, Grammy-winning artist, composer and performer, Emily Warren, singer and Grammy-winning and multi-platinum songwriter, and Gus Wenner, President and Chief Operating Officer of Rolling Stone at its Annual Spring Gala. Sara Haines, co-anchor of Good Morning America, will serve as master of ceremonies and Harry Santa-Olalla will host the live auction. Featured performers will include Arturo O'Farrill, Emily Warren, and Third Street students.
