The Walnut's LEGALLY BLONDE The Musical Opens Next Week

Walnut Street Theatre concludes its thrilling 210th season with the award-winning Broadway hit, LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL. Directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford, the high-energy musical begins previews on May 14, opens May 22, and continues through July 14.

BWW Review: WEST SIDE STORY at Lyric Opera

Lyric Opera has staged a grand, traditional WEST SIDE STORY that serves as a veritable primer for this iconic musical. With director Francesca Zambello at the helm, who is no stranger to directing classic musicals, Lyric's production celebrates the beauty and complexity of Leonard Bernstein's stunning score and Stephen Sondheim's lyrics. All the hallmarks of a classic WEST SIDE STORY are present here, starting with the urban-yet-polished set design from Peter J. Davison (with that famous balcony intact)

The Actors' Gang Presents VIOLENCE: THE MISADVENTURES OF SPIKE SPANGLE, FARMER

The Actors' Gang presents VIOLENCE: The Misadventures of Spike Spangle, Farmer, written by The Actors' Gang Artistic Director Tim Robbins and Adam Simon and directed by Bob Turton, who was most recently seen at The Actors' Gang as "The Maniac" in Accidental Death of an Anarchist. This no-holds barred satire of militarism and media manipulation begins performances May 2nd (Press Opening May 11th at 8:00pm) and will run Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, through June 22nd. 

Lost Dog New Music Ensemble Marks The Finale Of The Leonard Bernstein Centennial

LOST DOG NEW MUSIC ENSEMBLE marks the Finale of the Leonard Bernstein Centennial in New York City, with new orchestrations of Bernstein's Dybbuk and Fancy Free. Taking place at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music on Friday, June 14th at 8pm, the concert performance of these ballet scores will feature the world premiere of new orchestrations created by Garth Edwin Sunderland, Lost Dog's Artistic Director, and Vice President for Creative Projects for The Leonard Bernstein Office.

McKittrick Hotel Announces SPEAKEASY MAGICK

The McKittrick Hotel (530 West 27th Street, NYC), home of Sleep No More, announces Speakeasy Magick, a spellbinding new experience featuring the city's top magical talents. Performances will be offered in The Club Car on Thursdays at 8pm, Fridays at 7pm, and Saturdays at 8pm starting April 4.

The Actors' Gang Theater Announces One Act Festival, March 14 - April 20

The Actors' Gang presents One Act Festival, featuring two contrasting programs performed in repertory. Show one, entitled The Classic, begins performances March 14th (press opening March 23) and features two classic one-act plays -- Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit, directed by Brian T. Finney, and Samuel Beckett's Krapps's Last Tape, directed by Cynthia Ettinger. Show two, entitled The Original, begins performances March 16 (Press Opening March 29) and features three new one-act plays written, directed, and acted by The Actors Gang ensemble:  Tradition, written by James Edward Bane and directed by Tess Vidal, A Perfect World, written by Lynde Houck and directed by Danielle Powell, and Clean Slate, written by Bob Turton and directed by Zoe Hall. Both programs will run Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, through April 20th.  

Actors' Gang Announces Dario Fo / Ralph Steadman Exhibition ACCIDENTAL DEATH

The Actors' Gang Theater presents an exhibition featuring the artworks of Ralph Steadman and Dario Fo, to accompany the run of ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST, which will open this Saturday, February 2nd and will continue until March 9th. Written by Italian playwright and Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo, translated by Jon Laskin and Michael Aquilante and directed by Will Thomas McFadden, the play began its run on Thursday, January 24th.

Jana Robbins And Haley Swindal To Bring The Songs Of Kander And Ebb Back To Feinstein's/54 Below This February

Returning after back-to-back sold out shows this past summer, Jana Robbins (Gypsy, I Love My Wife, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife) and Haley Swindal (Jekyll and Hyde, White Christmas, Sweeney Todd) will join forces again and return to Feinstein's/54 Below for two unforgettable evenings with "We Just Move On! - The Songs of Kander and Ebb." The shows are slated for Tuesday, February 5th at 7:00PM and Tuesday, February 12th at 7:00PM.

The Actors' Gang has announced an extension of 'Johnny Got His Gun' at the Ivy Substation, adding two performances, a matinee performance on November 11th, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and Veteran's Day and an evening performance on November 14th. The stage adaptation of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, written by Bradley Rand Smith and directed by Tim Robbins, began previews on October 6th and opened October 13th.

Born on October 11, 1918 in New York City, Robbins was one of the major forces in 20th century performing arts. He received world renown for his choreography for New York City Ballet, where he spent much of his creative life, as well as for his work with American Ballet Theatre, Ballets: U.S.A., and other dance companies around the world. He received equal acclaim for his work as a director and choreographer of Broadway musicals, plays, movies, and television, winning five Tony Awards and two Academy Awards, as well as numerous other honors including the Handel Medallion of the City of New York (1976), the Kennedy Center Honors (1981), and the National Medal of the Arts (1988).

JOHNNY GOT HIS GUN Opens At The Actors' Gang Next Month

The Actors' Gang announced today that the stage adaptation of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, written by Bradley Rand Smith and directed by Tim Robbins, will kick off The Actors' Gang 2018/19 Season from Saturday, October 6th to Saturday, November 10th, 2018. The press opening is Saturday, October 13.

THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT Comes to The Actors' Gang, 9/27

The Actors' Gang Theater will begin previews of The Madwoman of Chaillot on Thursday, September 27th and run through Saturday, November 10th with an official press opening on Saturday, October 6th.

Jana Robbins And Haley Swindal Return To 54 Below with WE JUST MOVE ON!

Jana Robbins (Gypsy, I Love My Wife, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife) and Haley Swindal (Jekyll and Hyde, White Christmas, Sweeney Todd) will join forces and return to Feinstein's/54 Below for two unforgettable evenings with 'We Just Move On! - The Songs of Kander and Ebb.' The shows are slated for Thursday, August 30th at 9:30PM and Thursday, September 6th at 7:00PM. Following separate sold-out shows of their own, both Robbins and Swindal are no strangers to the Kander and Ebb catalogue. Jana appeared in two tours of Zorba and both Jana and Haley have played 'Sally Bowles' in separate productions of Cabaret. The veteran duo can currently be seen starring together in the smash Off-Broadway show, This One's For The Girls.

Elvis Musical HEARTBREAK HOTEL to Receive Chicago Premiere

Broadway In Chicago, the producers of HEARTBREAK HOTEL, and Authentic Brands Group (ABG), owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises today, announce a musical premiere that will ignite the stage of the Broadway Playhouse. HEARTBREAK HOTEL, the live musical, will make its debut at Broadway In Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) for a limited engagement, running from June 30 through September 9, 2018.
