Each spring HERE offers a window into the creative process of their nationally recognized HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP). For 21 years, this exploration of new work in development, previously known as the Culturemart Festival, has blurred the boundaries between theatre, music, dance, new media, and visual art. The 2020 edition, which runs February 23-March 1, not only features seven daring workshop presentations but a new name that better captures the essence of the experience: HERE RAW / Resident Artist Works.

Abrons Arts Center presents the world premiere of Minor Theater's PATHETIC, a teen-drama riff on Racine's Phedre. PATHETIC marks the much- anticipated return of Minor Theater to Abrons Arts Center after 2017's sold-out horror hit, THE TERRIFYING. OBIE Award-winning playwright Julia Jarcho directs this take on the classic tragedy of female desire. Tickets are available now for the production which will run from June 5th-23rd in the Abrons Arts Center (466 Grand Street, Manhattan).

Running March 12-April 2, The Terrifying is performed by Jess Barbagallo, Kim Gainer, Kristine Haruna Lee, Hanna Novak, and Pete Simpson for an audience of 60 who are seated onstage at the Playhouse, close enough to hear a faint whisper. An immersive, live sound design by Obie-winner Ben Williams adds tension to the rich and intimate experience.

Cultural partners Jacob's Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA present two innovative and independent New York-based contemporary dance artists, Katie Workum and Kimberly Bartosik, in a one-night-only engagement, October 24 at 8pm at the Hunter Center. Noted for her 'serious and ambitious' work by Gia Kourlas of The New York Times, Katie Workum brings her new work Black Lakes, full of improvisation, risk, and humor. The second half of the program features New York Dance and Performance ('Bessie') Award winner Kimberly Bartosik's Ecsteriority4 (Part 2), which constructs a landscape of power and desire to explore violence in American culture today. Co-presentations by Jacob's Pillow and MASS MoCA are made possible by the Irene Hunter Fund for Dance.
