HartBeat Ensemble announced today an educational and artistic expansion of the 21 year old theatre company. Thanks to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, HartBeat Ensemble welcomes Jeanika Browne-Springer to its staff in the newly-created educational role of Director of LifeLong Learning.

The inaugural women-driven Science in Theatre Festival is set to kick off on November 12 at Nancy Manocherian's the cell theatre in New York. The event will feature science-infused plays, discussion panels, and an exhibit of theatre technologies.

The Exponential Festival presents and promotes experimental performances created by New York-based artists working across all mediums. The works will premiere this January on Exponential's YouTube channel for a suggested donation, with 100% of proceeds going to the artists.

 Fresh Ground Pepper (FGP), a New York City based arts incubator in its 10th season of instigating and presenting new work, is proud to announce its first ever multi-week emerging arts festival at The New Ohio Theatre from April 10 through 21, 2018. The inaugural FGP Festival will present art parties, new works-in-progress, and workshop productions that span genre, form, and interactivity, including new works of performance, visual art, comedy, music, immersive theatre, board gaming, and literature.

The Playwriting Collective is proud to announce the recipient of the first annual $1000 Ball Grant as playwright Antu Yacob. In keeping with the mission statement of The Playwriting Collective, this grant is expressly designed for a writer who identifies as living in or emerging from a lower economic status. Six talented writers are joining The Playwriting Collective in 2017! Starting in February Alex Rubin, Jeffrey James Keyes, John Carhart, Kate Garfield, Wi-Moto Nyoka, and Katie Fabel will meet for a 6-week period with Artistic Directors Joshua Young and Phillip Christian in an effort to create several new full-length plays. The Playwriting Collective puts the playwright first and cultivates work that is transmedia. This year the participating playwrights will be motivated to indulge their imaginations and tell stories that are armed with all the weapons of modern stagecraft.

Icarus in the L.E.S. is a kaleidoscopic performance-poem by Nic Adams, with the wax-winged hero chasing his destiny and scouting out the divide between artistic achievement and personal happiness.
