On the surface, it's about two male penguins who partnered, adopted an egg, hatched and raised a chick together. But in reality, it's about so much more!

Play Your Part partners with King County Sexual Assault Resource Center and SWOP Seattle to produce Sex, a play with music written by Mae West. Reimagined for the virtual stage under the direction of Isabella Price, this flapper-era drama features live performances from 17 actors from around the country, with original music by Perice Pope and choreography by Sailor St. Claire. The production will be broadcast live December 4-19.

Astoria Performing Arts Center (Dev Bondarin, Artistic Director), in association with Teresa Lotz, presents six new musical shorts written in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Hoboken is about to open at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Director Fritz Brekelller took time from a busy schedule to talk with us about the show. Fritz Brekeller has worked extensively in the soap opera world, winning multiple Daytime Emmy Awards, most recently this past May, as part of the directing team at CBS's The Young and the Restless. THEATER: He received a 2016 NY Innovative Theater award for Outstanding Direction of Scott C. Sickles' Composure at the Workshop Theater. Among his many other theater credits, includes two past collaborations with playwright Laura Rohrman: My Life as You and The Elevator: Secret Thoughts. He also conceived the musical revue Foxy Ladies Love/Boogie 70's Explosion, which played to sold-out crowds at the legendary Duplex in Greenwich Village. TV: ABC's All My Children. FILM: What Would Bear Do? and the short, Through the Morning. WEB: season 4 of the indie soap, Empire and the pilot for the off-off Broadway spoof, Off-Off Kilter.

Hoboken, written by Laura Rohrman, Directed by Fritz Brekeller, is a high voltage thriller inspired by true events. A devastatingly brutal tale of passionate yet toxic love and unthinkable acts that mirrors a deeply wounded society we live in today. HOBOKEN opens June 9th as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival at the Dorie Theatre at The Complex Hollywood 6476 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038.

A male plumber and a female woodworker take the the art world by storm in 'Catapult!' by Matthew James Fitzgerald, to be presented by Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave.,  February 21 to March 10.  The piece is a subversive commentary on the pretensions and 'artspeak' of the gallery scene. Fitzgerald is an actor, author, union carpenter, furniture designer and sometime history/english teacher.
