Swizz Beatz, TK Wonder, and Larry Ossei-Mensah Join 2019 Bronx Gala Program

The Bronx Museum of the Arts is pleased to announce that Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean, TK Wonder, and Larry Ossei-Mensah have been added to the program lineup for the 2019 Bronx Gala. The evening will be emceed by MOCAD senior curator and Bronx native Larry Ossei-Mensah, and will feature an intimate dinner, an art auction, and two special performances by musician and social activist TK Wonder, who has opened for Sting, Justice, and Erykah Badu, among others. The 2019 Bronx Gala will take place on Monday, April 8 at Capitale.
Arts Council Announces Award for Giant's Female Playwright Partnership

Parenthood, grief and personal-identity are among the themes explored from different viewpoints in an exciting new collaboration between one of the UK's most prolific female playwrights, Sabrina Mahfouz, and Giants Theatre Company's Artistic Director and established playwright, Jennie Buckman. The project will be part-funded by a 15,000 Arts Council grant recently award to Giants.
New York's First All-Female Festival Announces Music Lineup

March Madness is the second of two exhibitions that focus on the cultural of sport as represented in the visual arts. Curated by the duo, Hank Willis Thomas and Adam Shopkorn, this year's exhibition centers on the realm of athleticism from the perspective of women. The show features a roster of 30 artists, all women, whose artwork subvert masculine archetypes, and challenge more docile notions of femininity by highlighting the qualities of strength, fitness and agility that are characteristic of physical skill and capability. These aesthetic observations of the physical form become metaphors by which to consider broader issues about empowerment, gender roles, beauty, politics, labor, popular-culture - as well as ethnic and racial histories.

New York's eternally boundary-pushing theater company Naked Angels (Geoffrey Nauffts, Artistic Director and Brittany O'Neill, Managing Director) presented the official Off Broadway premiere of Fault Lines, on September 30th, 2008. The new play by Stephen Belber is directed by David Schwimmer. Performances began Monday, September 22 at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street).
