The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents the free, online stream of A Christmas Carol in Harlem, as recorded live last year, based on the timeless work by Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol in Harlem is adapted by Shawn René Graham, directed by Carl Cofield and choreographed by Tiffany Rea-Fisher with music directed and composed by Kahlil X Daniel.

A STAR IS BORED will be hosting a virtual benefit reading of BLUNT CIVILITY, a screenplay by Greg Lakhan and James Canellos based on the stage play by Lakhan this Saturday 7/25 at 8pm. The reading is directed by Rebecca Aparicio.

The Flea Theater announced today SERIALS @ The Flea: ONLINE!, a spinoff of the organization's popular late-night episodic show will feature five all-new plays specifically created for digital viewing. SERIALS will be available on Saturday, April 25 at 9:00 PM on the Flea's Instagram and YouTube channels.

Taylor Mac will premiere new play, The Fre, at off-Broadway venue The Flea. The Flea's Artistic Director and frequent Taylor Mac collaborator, Niegel Smith will direct. The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents the second year of its holiday production, A Christmas Carol in Harlem, based on the timeless work by Charles Dickens. This year's production is directed by Carl Cofield based on an adaptation by Shawn René Graham with new choreography by Tiffany Rea-Fisher (Artistic Director of Elisa Monte Dance).This season, the show moves into a three-quarter thrust theater, offering audiences a more intimate theater experience and allowing them to share in the spirit of the show. Cofield has re-imagined large portions of the work to fit this new space and to build on the festive themes throughout the play while allowing the drama of Scrooge's past to unfold. This includes a new set, music pieces, projections, costumes and casting that establishes A Christmas Carol in Harlemas a modern addition to New York City's annual holiday offerings.

A close friend recently told me there was no cure for climate change.  Too many people are on the planet.  He theorized the solution was to eliminate two-thirds of the world's population.  Ebenezer Scrooge also shares the same sentiment.  If the sick and downtrodden cannot survive then they will help 'decrease the surplus population.'  A Christmas Carol in Harlem updates Charles Dickens' classic novella into modern times with a socially contemplative spin.

The Flea Theater presents the World Premiere of SCRAPS written by Geraldine Inoa, a writer on The Walking Dead and the inaugural recipient of The Shonda Rhimes Unsung Voices Playwriting Commission. It is directed by Flea Artistic Director Niegel Smith. Now in previews, opening night is slated for Thursday, August 30.
