Shuyan Yang BIO

Shuyan was born and raised in Shanghai, China. After graduated from high school she went to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy to further her study in Musical Theater. Since graduation, Shuyan participated in lots of amazing projects such as Farewell My Concubine, Eastbound, The Me Nobody Knows concert at 54 Below. She made her Off-Broadway debut as the role of Malsoon in the musical Comfort Women at Peter Jay Sharp Theater located in Playwrights Horizons. Recently, she just finished the China premiere of musical Spring Awakening as the role of Wendla. Other credits: Repunzel (Into the Woods)

Village Theatre's NewWorks Program to Stage EASTBOUND

Village Theatre today announced that tickets are on sale now for the Village Originals Beta Production of Eastbound, a new bilingual musical about the unexpected meeting of two brothers from opposite sides of the world. Directed by Desdemona Chiang (Seattle Rep: The Winter’s Tale) and Music Directed by R.J. Tancioco (Village Theatre: Hairspray,  Newsies), this is a fully-produced developmental production with scenic design by Timothy Mackabee, costume design by Johanna Pan, and lighting design by Robert J. Aguilar.
MandarinWorks Theatre Festival to Present Two New Original Mandarin Works

Cheeyang Ng is an impressive human. They are celebrating nearly a decade as a resident of New York. The native of Singapore came here, as they said to escape some traditions and find a truer, more authentic version of themself. That journey is reflected in many of their songs, which focus on the joys and the uncertainty of being in unfamiliar territory, whether it be relationships or career ambitions of just self-actualization. Casting Announced For Village Theatre's FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS

With The 19th Annual Festival of New Musicals taking place this upcoming weekend, Village Theatre is excited to announce the casting for XY, an uplifting musical about identity and coming to terms with your past; Cold Turkey, a wild and funny satire; Modern, an inspiring tale about a group of Amish teenagers; Eastbound, an poignant story about Chinese brothers in search of a home they've never known; and Cowboy Bob, an adventurous rock musical about a bank-robbing woman. The Festival will take place in Issaquah August 9-11, 2019 and provides an essential platform for writers to develop new works. Past Festival shows include Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning shows such as Next to Normal and Million Dollar Quartet, as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway hits: It Shoulda Been You, Desperate Measures, Lizzie, and many more.
