THE MOUNTAINTOP By Katori Hall Announced At Vagabond Players

Vagabond Players continues its 107th season with Katori Hall's acclaimed drama, THE MOUNTAINTOP, directed by Dwight R. B. Cook.

Baryshnikov Arts Center Presents St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, Plus Adam Rosenblatt

 Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) continues its Spring 2019 season on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 7:30pm with a performance by St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble +Adam Rosenblatt, percussionist, at BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater (450 W. 37th Street). Rosenblatt will perform Belgian composer Thierry de Mey's theatrical and dramatic piece Light Music, in which movements and gestures produce light and sound through interactive technology. This interdisciplinary solo performance will be bookended by Viennese classics - Joseph Haydn's festive Divertimento for Strings from 1754 and Joseph Lanner's charming 19th century waltzes, performed by the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble. These virtuosic musicians make up the artistic core of the renowned Orchestra of St. Luke's - who share the performing arts complex with BAC at 450 W. 37th Street.

Baryshnikov Arts Center Presents Quodlibet Ensemble: Biber, Martynov + Sharlat

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) concludes its Fall 2018 season on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 7:30pm with Quodlibet Ensemble: Music by Biber, Martynov + Sharlat at BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater (450 W. 37th Street). Quodlibet (Latin for 'whatever pleases') Ensemble is a string chamber orchestra of some of today's most sought-after musicians who come from top string quartets as well as period and new music groups. PigPen Theatre Co.'s Off-Broadway play with music The Old Man and the Old Moon, hailed as "the best kept secret around that's not going to last for much longer" by The Huffington Post, has announced today that it will extend for the holiday season to January 6, 2013 at The Gym at Judson (243 Thompson Street, NYC). The Old Man and the Old Moon is a co-production of Britt Lafield/BKL Productions, SoHo Playhouse, Inc., Aaron Glick, Ronnie Planalp / Deborah Taylor and The PigPen Company.

PigPen Theatre Co. Offers Free Tickets to THE OLD MAN AND THE OLD MOON for Displaced Hurricane Victims

The critically acclaimed troupe PigPen Theatre Co. has announced that they will be giving away free tickets to their new play, The Old Man and the Old Moon, to those displaced from their homes due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. As soon as power is restored to the production's venue, The Gym at Judson (243 Thompson Street at Washington Square South), the play will resume performances. At each performance, until all tri-state residents are able to safely return to their homes, twenty tickets will be given away to those displaced by the storm.

THE MOUNTAINTOP Recoups Broadway Investment

Producers Jean Doumanian and Sonia Friedman announced today that their premiere Broadway production of Katori Hall's Olivier Award-winning play, The Mountaintop, which is playing to sold out houses at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W45th Street), has recouped its entire initial investment of $3.1 million. The Mountaintop stars Samuel L. Jackson as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Angela Bassett, and is directed by Tony Award® nominee Kenny Leon (Stick Fly, Fences, A Raisin in the Sun).

Ruben Wills to Speak at THE MOUNTAINTOP for MLK Day

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, New York City Councilman Ruben Wills (Queens District 28) will present a New York City Proclamation to the Broadway production of The Mountaintop by Katori Hall. Citations will be given to cast members Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, director Kenny Leon and producers Jean Doumanian and Sonia Friedman, following the Sunday matinee performance, January 15th.

Fraser, O'Hare & Coolidge Open Elling at the Barrymore Nov. 21; Previews Nov. 2

As BroadwayWorld previously speculated, Brendan Fraser, who's film career includes The Mummy, G.I. Joe, Encino Man, Journey to the Center of the Earth and other films will make his Broadway debut in the Simon Bent play - Elling, Variety reports. The play, which will begin previews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on November 2, will open officially on November 21. The production will also star Denis O'Hare, Jennifer Coolidge, and Richard Easton and will be directed by Dough Hughes and produced by Howard Panter.
