Ailey Extension is helping people all around the world kickstart their 2022 resolutions with new workshops and weekly classes to help make movement part of a fun and healthy lifestyle.

For the first time since March 2020, New Yorkers of all experience levels and backgrounds are invited to join in the dance at the Joan Weill Center for Dance – NYC’s largest building dedicated to dance – with their favorite instructors, inspiring guest artists and esteemed musicians. 

Ailey Extension is stepping into 2021 with a range of inspiring new ways for students to dive into the world of dance.

In conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's first-ever virtual season (December 2-31, 2020), Ailey Extension is inviting dancers of all experience levels the chance to learn Ailey choreography from former Company members. Novice and experienced dancers alike are welcome to join virtual workshops to learn excerpts from Alvin Ailey's most celebrated works including Night Creature and Revelations. These workshops allow dancers to be part of a historic global experience as they come together with Ailey fans from around the world to revel in the global impact of Ailey's works and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the timeless American masterpiece Revelations.

Ailey Extension is closing Hispanic Heritage Month with a bang, by bringing back two beloved instructors to guide students through movement classes that honor Hispanic culture and contributions to dance. 

Throughout October Ailey Extension is bringing students of all experience levels the chance to keep moving with revered dancers and choreographers. Ailey's virtual studios are open for all to enjoy street style techniques and dance fitness during Saturday workshops led by in-demand guest instructors, including celebrity dancers.

Ailey Extension is celebrating National Dance Day this Saturday, September 19 with a full day of virtual classes and workshops to bring out the inner dancer in people from various ages, experience levels and abilities.

Ailey Extension invites people around the globe to fall into dance with a variety of classes, special workshops and a kids & teens series starting in September.  Students of diverse ages, backgrounds and levels are welcome to enjoy learning dance moves and enhancing fitness under the instruction of New York City's top dance professionals with a cornucopia of virtual offerings. 

The Ailey organization continues to carry forward Alvin Ailey's pioneering legacy of not only entertaining but uniting, empowering and educating through Ailey All Access.

Sketch on the Rocks features a cast of local actors and comedians, many of whom are returning from last season. Included in the main event sketches this season are a political debate in Disney's Magic Kingdom, viruses falling in love, and a wizard hiking guide.  

Ailey Extension is spreading joy to the dance world with themed workshops to keep everyone in the holiday spirit. Over the next few weeks all are welcome to take part in festive workshops tied to the joyous season and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's holiday engagement through January 5, 2020 at New York City Center. Dancers can celebrate the most wonderful time of the year at Matthew Johnson Harris' HoliSLAY Hip Hop Cardio Dance Party and jump start their New Year's resolutions sweating it out at a Zumba Holiday Dance Party with Richard Martinez; or practice walking into the new year with confidence at a Runway & Vogue workshop with Pose on FX stars Dominique A. Jackson and Jason Rodriguez and discover the secrets of feeling powerful at an Absolute Beginner Heels workshop with Jessica Castro. Let the spirit of Ailey's holiday performances provide motivation to learn Ailey's signature style at Intro to Ailey Classics with Sarita Allen and explore Mr. Ailey's genius as a choreographer at Celebrating Alvin Ailey with Judith Jamison.

Back to the Backlot, a live musical comedy variety show, will bring back many of West Hollywood's famed Backlot Theatre's original showcase stars to commemorate the end of an era of one of the country's most famous venues for live entertainment. The event will mark the beginning of the preservation project known as Robertson Lane, which will re-build the venue formally known as The Factory and the famous Studio One Nightclub. The historic building opened in 1929 as the home of Mitchell Cameras, an early and important movie camera maker for the large movie studios. It was then the Studio One nightclub/Backlot Theatre from the late 1970s through the 1990s.

One of the staples of Long Beach Playhouse's Collaborative each year has been Held2gether, Improv for Life's original sketch comedy shows.   This is the 6th annual collaboration between the Long Beach theatrical landmarks. The original sketch compilation, known for selling out, runs Thursday- Saturday February 28th - March 2nd in the Studio Theatre. The all-new show boasts 11 robust sketches touching upon universal relationships, outrageous characters, music, pop culture, and parodies of the time.

Held2gether, Improv for Life is presenting its latest production, Grass-Fed, Free-Range Sketch Show, at the Long Beach Playhouse Studio Theatre March 1st-3rd at 8:00pm. It will be an evening of hilarious original sketches in a 'Saturday Night Live' style. This will be the fifth year that the local, award-winning sketch and improv troupe has performed as a part of the Playhouse's Studio Collaborative season.

Ailey Extension welcomes leading dancers from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to teach three special workshops during the company's New York City Center holiday season (November 29 - December 31).

In conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's New York City Center season, the Ailey Extension presents workshops taught by acclaimed choreographers and instructors throughout December, as well as special dance fitness events to ring in 2017. From mambo to ballet, these unique workshops and special classes allow novice, intermediate, and professional students to explore techniques and choreography at New York's largest building dedicated to dance.

The Public Theater announced a one-week extension today for George Brant's Grounded, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Julie Taymor and featuring Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway. Grounded began previews on Tuesday, April 7 and will now run an additional week through Sunday, May 24 in the Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Sunday, April 26.
