In the new Sadler's Wells East venue, we are invited to observe and then enter the world of Club Groove in a pulsing, energetic, modern dance piece allowing the audience to mingle on the dance floor. The story is slight but the vibe is unmistakable. This production opens with a half-hour of powerhouse movement before becoming fully immersive. Look at me, it challenges, and you do.

The start of Sanaz Toossi’s Wish You Were Here sees girlies being girlies in 1978 Iran. While more protests keep breaking out around the country, five friends plan their lives between waxing each other’s legs and dreaming about their future husbands. Their youthful Iranian bliss is rudely interrupted by the escalation of the Islamic revolution of 1979.

As I prepare for the European premiere of 23.5 Hours at Park Theatre, I'd like to share some insights into the challenges and revelations that come with bringing these contrasting perspectives to life on stage, and why I was drawn to telling both stories.
