Halle Berry to Direct and Star in MMA Drama BRUISED


Halle Berry will make her directorial debut with the MMA drama Bruised, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Oscar winner will team up up with John Wick producer Basil Iwanyk and his Thunder Road Pictures for the film.

GableStage is proud to announce that local playwright and Carbonell Award nominee, Michelle Rosenfarb, was recently accepted into the MFA Dramatic Writing Program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and will commence this prestigious program in the fall. To help support her educational endeavors, GableStage will be housing a benefit playreading of her award-winning, The Gates of Choice. All proceeds will go to the playwright. Critically acclaimed, The Gates of Choice, received its world premiere production at New Theatre in Coral Gables during their 2008-2009 season, and is the work that gained Ms. Rosenfarb attention on the theatre map.

World Premiere 'The Gates Of Choice'


New Theatre continues with its second World Premiere of the season with Michelle Rosenfarb's coming of age drama, The Gates of Choice making its debut on November 13, 2008. Set in Israel 's Ultra Orthodox quarter of Mea Shearim, a Hasidic young woman facing an arranged marriage finds refuge and answers in a taboo relationship to the secular world.

New Theatre's 2008-2009 Season


New Theatre kicks off the season with one of the Bard's most accessible romantic comedies, As You Like It (August 14 - September 14, 2008,) which follows Shakespeare's gorgeous heroine, Rosalind, into a forest of possibilities. The nature of true love versus romantic love are put to the test amidst misunderstandings, gender confusions, and mistaken identities. The season moves from this adaptation of Shakespeare's classic comedy to New Theatre's first World Premiere of the season, The Rant by Andrew Case (September 25 - October 26, 2008.) In this contemporary drama, an investigator is assigned to the murder case of a 16 year old African American boy, killed by an NYPD police officer

New Theatre Announces 2008-09 Season


New Theatre launches into 2009 season with the World Premiere of Robert Caisley's Kissing (January 15 -February 15, 2009.) This biologically ticking comedy heats up after an illicit office kiss sends the lives of two couples spinning out-of-control. The second classic of the season, Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie runs from February 26 - March 29, 2009. The lyrical and powerful autobiographical play by Williams is noted as one of the great masterpieces of American drama and the winner of the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play.
