In 1904 the Friars started meeting, and in 1918 The Yiddish Art Theatre was founded. How symbolic that the Yiddish Theatre, now a City Village Cinema movie house was the scene of The Friars Sunshine Committee's annual morning of Christmas cheer for New York City Children. The kids are entertained by clowns, are given their early Christmas presents by some famous Friars, and the theatre staff makes sure they have unlimited popcorn while enjoying a movie.

The Sunshine Committee of the Friars Club hosted a Holiday Party and special film screening of Sony Pictures Animation's 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2' at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City. For over twenty-five years, the Friars Club Sunshine Committee, which is funded through an annual holiday raffle held at the club, has been providing entertainment, companionship and tons of love to senior citizens, musicians, comedians or performance artists to brighten up the residents of nursing homes, or providing clowns, magicians and entertainment for disadvantaged children in group homes, the Sunshine Committee is dedicated to enhancing each and every life they touch. Friars members who handed out gifts to the children after the movie were, Former Mayor David Dinkens, Former New York Ranger Rod Gilbert, NY Yankee Broadcaster Michael Kay, Former NY Knick Cal Ramsey, Pix News Marvin Scott, Pix News Jodi Applegate, and Boxing Champ Michael Spinks.

Legendary director Spike Lee looks set to direct Mike Tyson's one man show MIKE TYSON: UNDISPUTED TRUTH in a Broadway production this Summer, according to TMZ.com.

According to TMZ, boxer Mike Tyson is planning to bring his one man Las Vegas show 'Mike Tyson: UNDISPUTED TRUTH' to Broadway.

According to the NY Times, former heavy weight champ Mike Tyson is interested in heading to the Great White Way in the future. Tyson told the Times, 'I want to entertain people. I want a Tony Award.'

Dozens of stars from the stage and screen joined roast-master Lisa Lampanelli in kicking-off this year's Friars Club Roast of Pat Cooper on Friday October 19 at the New York Hilton, (1335 Avenue of the Americas).
