Friends, Celebrities, Fans, Dick Robinson’s Legends Radio, together with Mo Rocca and the CBS Sunday Morning Show crew were all in the Cabaret Room at The Wick Theater last night for a momentous performance by Marilyn Maye on the occasion of her 93rd Birthday.  It wasn’t only CBS that had its cameras on for the big event. 

It's a tradition at the Metropolitan Room to Celebrate New Years Eve for as long as Marilyn Maye stays in the room and this year the party is lasting until January 10th.  BroadwayWorld was at Marilyn's party with Billy Stritch on piano last night.  Check out the photos below.

This year's theme is Making Our Gardens Grow, recognizing three people who are each helping to change the landscape of theater in highly individual ways. The 2015 TRU Spirit of Theater Award, given to a member of the producing community who has demonstrated exceptional generosity, support and kindness to others in the business, will be awarded to producer Patrick Blake (The 39 Steps, Bedlam Theatre's Hamlet/St. Joan, Play Dead, My Life Is a Musical, The Exonerated, In the Continuum), also the founder of Rhymes Over Beats, a game-changing new hip hop theater company; the TRU Humanitarian Award will be presented to Teresa Eyring on behalf of one of American theater's pre-eminent service organizations, Theatre Communications Group (TCG); and the TRU Entrepreneur Award, given for consistency, unique thinking and innovation, will be presented to Linda Amiel Burns for 38 years of The Singing Experience, a unique cabaret workshop that helps ordinary people blossom into singing 'stars.'

Amanda McBroom - American international cabaret performer and writer of the hit song, 'The Rose,' and her husband, multi-award winning musical theater lion George Ball - presented the New York debut of their show, 'Some Enchanted Evening - Love Songs for Grownups' earlier this week, and BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the evening!

The Friars were a mens only club until 1988. Last night some great women Friars entertained their fellow members in the newly named Jerry Lewis Monastery.

Johnny Carson knew and featured great singers, including one he called 'Super Singer' - - The multi-talented Marvelous Marilyn Maye. Ms. Maye appeared on The Tonight Show a record 76 times, more than any singer. Cabaret legend Marilyn Maye Tribute to Johnny Carson, show returns to 54 Below June 26th -28th after it's sell-out run in May. Singer/songwriter Ruth Carlin returns to the Laurie Beechman Theater this spring with an illuminating exploration of the eclectic repertoire of iconic folkie turned cabaret favorite, Judy Collins. 'A Light in the Window - Songs of Judy Collins.' Performances are tonight, May 17th at 7:30pm and June 12th at 7pm.

Stamford's Palace Theatre has awarded the 2014 Emerging Young Artist scholarships to deserving Fairfield County high school students. And for the first time, The Palace has given four awards: a $2,000 Grand Prize, a $500 Second Prize, a $250 Third Prize, and a new $150 Promising Young Artist award. This year's Grand Prize winner is Greenwich High School's Anna Black, the Second Prize winner is Darien High School's Alison Lui, the Third Prize winner is Fairfield Warde High School's Connor Levinson, and the Promising Young Artist is Ethan Riordan of Stamford.

Singer/songwriter Ruth Carlin returns to the Laurie Beechman Theater this spring with an illuminating exploration of the eclectic repertoire of iconic folkie turned cabaret favorite, Judy Collins. 'A Light in the Window - Songs of Judy Collins.' Performances are May 17th at 7:30pm and June 12th at 7pm. Due to a scheduling conflict, jazz vocalist Hilary Kole will replace Cyrille Aimee at tonight's November 13th performance with Freddy Cole. The performance is a part of the Courtyard by Marriott Stamford Broadway/Cabaret/Jazz series 'Perfect Pairs at The Palace,' which is also being sponsored by Norman Drubner.

He began playing the piano at the age of five or six with the likes of Duke Ellington and Count Basie being frequent visitors to his Chicago home in the 1930's. She became the youngest performer ever to grace the stage at the legendary Rainbow Room in the late 1990's.
