National Geographic announced today that 'The Hot Zone,' the network's highest-rated scripted series to date, has been greenlit for a second season, which will focus on the anthrax attacks of 2001.

Environmental conservation organization, EcoHealth Alliance will honor award-winning Hollywood producer and author, Lynda Obst at the nonprofit's spring benefit “Going Viral – Connecting You to a Healthier World” on May 16 at Guastavino's in NYC for her work on National Geographic's The Hot Zone. Lynda took the time to speak with us about her work.

James D'Arcy ('Homeland') joins the cast as a series guest star. Production begins today in Toronto and will also shoot in South Africa in early December. THE HOT ZONE will premiere globally on National Geographic in 2019.
