The Colony Theatre in Burbank has announced a four-performance run of I'd Enjoy Being a Girl … On Broadway! from September 14-17. Starring Mark C. Reis, the show is directed by Michele Lynch and features choreography by Lisa Mandel and musical direction by Scott Harlan.

Modeled after Bach's Saint Matthew Passion, The Little Match Girl Passion is a modern, minimalist retelling of Hans Christian Anderson's tragic winter fairy tale. With only matches to keep her warm, a poor young girl, afraid to go home to her abusive father, takes shelter in an alley on a cold winter night. As she strikes each match, wonderful visions appear: when the last match is struck, the girl learns that the end of her suffering - and her life - is near. Featuring four of Seattle's most critically acclaimed voices and the lyrical, hip-hop choreography of UJ Mangune, our production of David Lang's Pulitzer Prize-Winning masterpiece is an intimate, unforgettable evening of music and dance.

You know how those 'Saturday Night Live' skits are where it's a fantastic premise and really funny to start out but then they have no idea how to end it so it drones on and on. Well the current off-kilter holiday production out at ArtsWest is like that. Filled with gut busting laughs and wonderful musical numbers in Act One but then turns into something very different in Act Two and keeps going on and on and ends about four different times.

A slew of Broadway vets has been added to the faculty of the New York Film Academy's Musical Theatre and Film Conservatory Program.

Aspiring musical theatre performers from all over the world will have the opportunity to work with a Broadway veteran faculty in the Musical Theater Conservatory Program at the New York Film Academy, merging stage and screen with cutting-edge movie musical opportunities. Additional faculty announcements include Jenn Colella (High Fidelity, Urban Cowboy), Lisa Mandel (Sunset Boulevard, Producers, Mamma Mia!), David Balderamma (In The Heights, Movin? Out, Saturday Night Fever), Robin Irwin (Titanic, Grease, Dance of the Vampires), Stephanie Kurtzuba (Billy Eliott, Boy From Oz, Mary Poppins), Dan Johnson and Timothy Smith (Aida, Sweet Charity, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).
