Now into her 10th decade, the venerable composer Thea Musgrave is still full-steam ahead.
The Scotch-born musician celebrated her 90th birthday last night (May 27) at a New York concert with world premieres, US premieres and NY premieres.
Following a critically-acclaimed run in 2016, ¡Figaro! (90210) returns to the New York stage April 7th through April 23rd for 15 performances only. The cast recently met the press and BroadwayWorld was there to capture the action. Check out the photos!
Echoing current presidential candidates' contentious views on immigration, the opera ¡FIGARO! (90210) brings the debate over immigration reform and income equality center stage when the production opens tomorrow, Thursday, March 24th at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project (229 West 42nd Street). After highly acclaimed concert performances in 2013, and a sold-out run with LA Opera in January 2015, ¡FIGARO! (90210) is making its New York stage premiere for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 3rd. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
The Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC), conducted by Music Director Grant Gershon, continues its year-long 50th anniversary season celebration with back-to-back performances of Orff's Carmina Burana, one of the most popular choral works of the 20th century, featuring Chorale member Timothy Gonzales, tenor, and noted guest artists Stacey Tappan, a "mellifluous" soprano (Wall St. Journal), Jose Adan Perez, a "glorious baritone" (Bach Track), and the ever-polished Los Angeles Children's Chorus on Saturday, November 2, 2013, 2 pm, and Sunday, November 3, 2013, 7 pm, at Disney Hall. Verdi's lush Te Deum, for double chorus and orchestra with roots in polyphony and Gregorian chant, opens the program.
