Oregon Shakespeare Festival has announced the month-long, five-play O! Reading Series. For this new initiative, five directors who are part of OSF’s artistic staff have each chosen a play to be performed as a live digital staged reading by some of OSF’s favorite actors.

The cast of 'ANNE FRANK, a musical', based on Anne Frank's life will feature 12 artists on stage to recreate Anne Frank's life filled with the touching music and lyrics written by Jean Pierre Hadida. This production marks the U.S Off-Broadway Premiere of this successful French musical which will be performed for the first time in English (adapted by Dylan Hadida). Directed and produced by David Serero, this new Off-Broadway production will take place at the Center for Jewish History (15 West 16th Street New York 10016), originally produced by Francine Disegni for Broadway Mad Production, Simon & Michal Kalfon.

ROMEO and JULIET coming Off-Broadway in a World Premiere Jewish adaptation this June 2019 at the Center for Jewish History (15 west 16th Street New York NY 10011). Adapted and directed by David Serero, who is also starring as Romeo, this unique production. One family is Sephardic and the other one is Ashkenazi, featuring classic Ladinos and Yiddish songs as well as some others surprises...

If the cultural and historical relevance weren't enough incentive, Theater J's production of 'The Jewish Queen Lear' will make you glad for the current revitalization of Yiddish theater. The play is an emotional journey, with insights into family, power, pride, and love. 'Mirele Efros' is a surprisingly modern play, and 'The Jewish Queen Lear' honors both the past and present in its performance. It's a touching story, a wonderful cast of characters (in both senses of the phrase), and a beautiful production.

Frank X is making his Theater J debut as Shalmen in the upcoming production of 'The Jewish Queen Lear' (also known as 'Mirele Efros'), which runs at Georgetown University's Davis Performing Arts Center in the Gonda Theatre from March 13th through April 7th.

Theater J completes its four-show 2018-2019 season Around Town with the English language premiere of the Yiddish theater classic The Jewish Queen Lear, a translation of Jacob Gordin's Mirele Efros. The Jewish Queen Lear runs at Georgetown University's Davis Performing Arts Center in the Gonda Theatre March 13 - April 7. The Obie Award winning Metropolitan Playhouse (220 E. 4th Street) current production of Jacob Gordin's The Jewish King Lear, one of the foundational works of the "Golden Age of American Yiddish theater," closes on Sunday, May 27.

Obie Award winning Metropolitan Playhouse (220 E. 4th Street) presents Jacob Gordin's The Jewish King Lear, one of the foundational works of the "Golden Age" of American Yiddish theater, in a new English translation by Ruth Gay, from April 27 through May 27, 2018. The play, which had its Lower East Side debut in 1892 and was written as a star vehicle for Jacob Adler, one of the greatest actors of the New York's Yiddish stage. Metropolitan Playhouse welcomes back director Ed Chemaly (The Easiest Way, The Spirit House) to helm the production.

Theater J, the nation's pre-eminent professional Jewish theater, announces its 2018-2019 season, which will be presented "around town" in top cultural venues throughout the city as the historic Edlavitch DCJCC building undergoes major renovation.  Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr has selected a diverse group of plays including an acclaimed one-woman show with music at the John F. The Queen Esther's Dilemma, a musical by Samuel J. Bernstein, is inspired by the Biblical Book of Esther. This original musical play blends humor with anguish, tragedy with triumph, while exploring Jewish identity in all its complexities. This unique musical will open on March 1st at the Center for Jewish History, New York, for a total of 4 performances (March 1st, 4th, 13th and 18th).
