BIO
A mezzo-soprano, Nicholls sang with the Lydian Singers and the Southernaires before attending school in England where she majored in opera with a minor in piano. Following her graduation from the National Opera Studio, she joined the Glyndebourne Opera Company in Sussex, England, where she performed until 1990. She then sang with various touring companies performing in the Portugal, Syria, and the United Kingdom.

Pegasus Opera Company have brought together 26 black opera singers from around the world digitally to sing Make Them Hear You, a social justice song from the musical Ragtime, in response to the Black Lives Matter movement.

For its annual summer festival of contemporary opera, music and theatre, the Almeida Theatre will present a programme which includes the London premiere of An Ocean of Rain, a specially commissioned opera by Yannis Kyriakides and Daniel Danis, the European premiere of Adam Rapp's Nocturne and British African Theatre Company Tiata Fahodzi's first week long residency at the Almeida.
