Brooklyn-based non-profit Photoville (co-founded by Laura Roumanos, Sam Barzilay, and Dave Shelley; formerly United Photo Industries) announces Photoville NYC 2020, the ninth year of the festival celebrating and showcasing photographers and organizations from New York and around the world, and adapting to the current climate with hope, enthusiasm, and photography in public spaces.
On September 12, Brooklyn-based nonprofit United Photo Industries (UPI, co-founded by Sam Barzilay, Dave Shelley, and Laura Roumanos) opens Photoville NYC 2019, the eighth year of the festival celebrating and showcasing photographers and organizations from New York and around the world in a rare open setting (September 12-22). UPI have transformed the festival's picturesque location, The Brooklyn Bridge Plazaa?"located in Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO beneath the majestic span of the Brooklyn Bridgea?"into an immersive photography village populated by over 80 exhibitions in 60+ shipping containers repurposed into galleries. Photoville NYC 2019 continues to focus on the power of visual storytelling, showcasing stories from across New York City's five boroughs and throughout the world.
Event brings together experts in various disciplines such as art, design, policy making, and community organizing to discuss issues related to freedom; and features a special performance by the Resistance Revival Chorus
