The Staten Island Museum invites you to celebrate the planet at this year's Earth Day Celebration: Seeds and Soil with creative workshops, fun activities, and presentations for all ages. Listen to the world underwater and ground beneath your feet with artist Nikki Lindt. Explore the wondrous stories of seeds and seed-savers with artist Sergey Jivetin, who will memorialize these stories by engraving seeds using specially-designed cutting tools under magnification.

Taking inspiration from the Museum's collection of cicadas- one of the world's largest- the installation will feature over two dozen species of cicada, including Brood X periodical cicadas, or Magicicadas, collected during the 2021 emergence.

Indulge your curiosity with over 20 different skills designed to connect you with the natural world whether that's on the seashore, in the woods, inside your home or right outside your door.   

The Staten Island Museum is searching its collection to bring you the most interesting stories that can be told succinctly to fit into your busy virtual schedules. Lunch and Learn brings you 30-minute presentations about specific objects ranging from paintings to peat moss and everything in between.

Now you can learn 'how-to' online with the Staten Island Museum at their virtual version of the Earth Day: How-To Festival on Saturday, April 25, starting at 12pm on their YouTube channel at YouTube.com/SIMuseum (on the Earth Day Playlist). The videos will be released at 12pm and remain accessible throughout the spring.

A brand new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC launched its national tour at the Center Theatre Group / Ahmanson Theatre last night, September 30 at 8 p.m. Directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien, the production closes in Los Angeles on October 31, 2015, and will then tour North America for multiple seasons, playing multi-week and week-long engagements.
