BIO

Andreas Robertz. Andreas is an established German theater director. He has directed and produced more than 60 shows of all genres, in theatres ranging from 40 seats to 900 seats. He is Artistic Director of OneHeart Productions (www.oneheartproductions.org) and a freelance director and producer working in both Germany and New York City. In New York he has directed for the Immigrants’ Theatre Project, The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, Around the Block, OneHeart Productions, and at the Theater For The New City and the Martin E. Segal Theatre (CUNY). Andreas has received numerous regional and national awards and nominations in Germany. He was awarded the 2006 Cologne City Award for his direction of Martin McDonagh’s 'The Pillowman,' and the 2008 Golden Penguin for best direction at the “Penguin’s Day Festival” for the one-woman show 'Which is My Drug of Choice?' by Kai Hensel. Most recently he co-directed Noemi de la Puente’s solo piece 'Fountain of Youth' at the Mint Theater and Richard Plotz’s full-length play 'Deceit' at Theater for the New City. He co-directs the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater Playwrights’ Unit and is a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab network.

The Allen Davis Playwriting Lab Returns This Fall!

The Allen Davis Playwriting Lab announces its Fall Season starting October, 2020. The Fall Season will consist of ten weekly sessions of two and half hours for intermediate and professional playwrights. Lab sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting on October 13th.
The Allen Davis Playwriting Lab Announces Spring Season

The Allen Davis Playwriting Lab announces its Spring Season starting March, 2020. The Spring Season will consist of ten weekly sessions of two and half hours for intermediate and professional playwrights. Lab sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting on March 17th. Playwrights interested in participating in the Lab on an intermediate level must have experience writing well-developed scenes; professional playwrights must have written a full-length produceable level script. Playwrights that are new to the Lab must submit a finished scene (intermediate level) or a play (professional level) in advance for consideration to be invited to take part as auditors on the first session, after which they may be invited to join.

EXILE IS MY HOME To Play Theater for the New City

 Experimental electronic musician, Alexander Tanson, announces the compostion of an original soundtrack for the new play by internationally renowned author, Domnica Radulescu.  Directed by Andreas Robertz, Exile Is My Home, is a sci-fi, post-apocalyptic fairy tale inspired by the playwrights experience as a political refugee from the former communist dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu.  The original music and sound design follow the themes and events of the play revolving around nostalgia, exile, surreal landscapes and absurd, sometimes violent events.  The result is a soundtrack moving between ambient soundscapes, emotional melodies, and surreal sound collages.
