Review: EMILY SKINNER AT CV REPERTORY at CV Repertory

Emily Skinner's versatility and sense of humor was in full bloom for a full house at the CV Rep Summer Cabaet Series on Thursday, July 9. With a host of award nominations in her resume, Emily gave a commanding performance that took us from Chicago to Avenue Q, Rodgers and Hart to Sondheim --right, no one can resist including Sondheim--to Nick Jonas and collaborators for a song that was new to me, "Bacon." 

Along with her great accompanist/music director Jonathan Fischer, Emily frolicked through the evening.  She was was adorable, playful, entertaining, and, alas, you missed her.  However, with any luck, she'll be back next summer.

I've been so impressed by the cabaret series at CV Rep that I've used up all the usual adjectives. If you come to one of the resmaining Tuesday and Thursday performances through July 30, you'll see what I mean.   

For now,  all I can say is, and you can quote me, "Emily Skinner sang every number just for me."  Short and sweet:  Had you been tthere, she would have sung just for you too.  For ticket informatioon, please visit cvrep.org.
