22-Year-Old Treasure Coast Upstart Goes Out With A Bang

Nicky Wood, a locally-grown budding producer, director, and performer, bids a fond farewell to his childhood home as he prepares to travel the world, pursuing international opportunities with Norwegian Cruise Lines Creative Studios. A "bon voyage" dinner isn't Wood's cup of tea. The 22-year-old has set out to produce what he calls, "he 'swan song' of the century," a swinging, musical revue spectacular entitled: THE RAT PACK NEW YEAR'S CONCERT. The show will mark Wood's 10th production as a producer/director and will run at his childhood playground, The Barn Theatre, December 28-31, 2017.

Prior to graduating from the University of Central Florida and landing a job as the Resident Choreographer at StarStruck Academy & Theatre, Wood trained at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and Broadway Theatre Project. He dual enrolled at Indian River State College at the age of 14. Prior to his first day at IRSC, he had never stepped foot into a real classroom, as he was homeschooled since kindergarten by his parents, who work in education at South Fork High School.

His show, THE RAT PACK NEW YEAR'S CONCERT, showcases his love for the golden-age of music, when the Vegas Strip was filled with live entertainers who knew how to work a crowd. The show promises to be an evening of spellbinding performances, light-hearted banter, and melodies in tribute to the world's most iconic entertainers.

The celebration includes 34 unforgettable songs, including: New York, New York, Come Fly With Me, That's Life, Luck Be A Lady, You Make Me Feel So Young, Come On-A My House, Strangers in the Night, I Wanna Be Loved by You, The Lady is a Tramp, Ain't That a Kick in the Head, On the Street Where You Live, That's Entertainment, Let's Fall in Love, Dancing in the Dark, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Mambo Italiano, Volare, Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend, My Way, and many more!

Four of Wood's prior UCF classmates and one of his former students reunite to share the stage with him in this one-weekend-only concert. The cast includes Julian Anthony Kazenas (Tampa), Joseph Edward Herr (Riverview), Lauren Stromak (Orlando), as well as Martin County locals, Colleen Broome and Eliza Levy (Palm City). Wood and his talented cast will bring to life the personalities and works of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Rosemary Clooney, Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland.

Wood is currently stationed at Norwegian Cruise Line's Creative Studios in Riverview, Florida, where he serves as an assistant to all productions while pursuing a future traveling the world as a theatrical installation supervisor (show director) with the organization the World Travel Awards refers to as the "World's Leading Large Ship Cruise Line." He will return home for three evening performances and two matinees to ring in the New Year with his friends at the place he'll always call "home."
