The Garden Theatre production of
THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
Music by Alan Menken | Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz | Book by Peter Parnell
Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney film.
Presented by Florida Hospital
April 27 - May 27, 2018
In this glorious retelling of Victor Hugo’s epic masterpiece, Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame, longs to escape his captivity and partake in the Feast of Fools in 15th-century Paris. When he is treated cruelly by the boisterous crowd, the sympathetic gypsy Esmeralda comes to his rescue. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit – Captain Phoebus and Archdeacon Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the gypsies – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all.
The lush score is unlike anything in musical theater today, featuring songs from the Disney animated film and new music from legendary composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Newsies) and lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell and Pippin).
Tickets: $34 ($30 students/seniors)
Contains adult themes. While this show is based on the animated film and includes many of the same songs, the plot and themes follow more closely to the original, and significantly darker, novel.
