María de Buenos Aires, by Ástor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer, transforms 1010 West Church Street into an Argentinian tango club for three performances in March 2027. Piazzolla's bandoneon-driven score follows María through death, rebirth, and dance, while the audience is surrounded by the music, movement, food, and atmosphere of Buenos Aires nightlife. The production places audiences inside the world of the opera rather than simply observing it from a distance.
