Honky Tonk Laundry at Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse

Honky Tonk Laundry cleverly weaves well-known C&W popular hit tunes into a charming and humorous story. The action takes place in the recent past, inside the Wishy Washy Washateria in a small Tennessee town. In Act One, Lana Mae longs for the singing career she never was able to pursue, having settled for small town life, running the laundromat. Katie comes along needing a job; together, they face their delusions about the men in their lives and become great friends at the same time. In Act Two, they mount a country music showcase in the laundromat and allow themselves to enjoy performing and singing together for the sheer joy of it.

The production is directed by IceHouse managing artistic director, Darlin Barry, with music direction by Robert Cohen, choreography by Marann Curtis, scenic design by Buddy Fales, lighting design by Philip Lupo and costume design by Anna Maria Muller.

Lana Mae, proud owner of the Wishy Washy, is played with great heart and the full-throated singing talents of Laurie Sullivan. Katie is an insecure and impulsive young woman who stumbles into the laundromat -- and winds up helping Lana Mae break free from her useless husband, while getting the nerve to kick her own cheating boyfriend to the curb, too.
