By:

Tickets to the 2016 Oklahoma Hall of Fame Banquet & Induction Ceremony go on sale to the public Fri., Aug. 26. Six outstanding Oklahomans will be inducted into the 89th class of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame on the evening of Nov. 17 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. These accomplished Oklahomans will join the cast of 677 individuals who have been inducted into the Hall since 1928.

"Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is the highest honor Oklahomans can receive for their contributions to our state," said Shannon L. Rich, president & CEO of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum. "We honor Oklahomans who have contributed to our state's rich heritage by making strides in their industry and bettering mankind."

2016 Oklahoma Hall of Fame inductees are: Rita Bly Aragón, Dale; Michael Burrage, Durant; Dan Dillingham, Enid; Rebecca Dixon, Tulsa; Kelli O'Hara, Elk City and Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City. Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts Troy Aikman is unable to attend the event and, as a result, will not be inducted with the 2016 Oklahoma Hall of Fame Class as previously announced. Since 1928, all 677 members of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, with the exception of the eight posthumous honorees, have accepted their medallions in person during the Banquet & Induction Ceremony, which is a tradition that will continue at the 2016 event in Nov.

Tickets can be purchased online at OklahomaHoF.com or by contacting Millie Craddick, honoree relations & induction administrator, at 405.523.3203 ormc@OklahomaHoF.com. Pricing information and a description of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Patron Donor levels is available at OklahomaHoF.com.

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame was founded in 1927 with the purpose of establishing the Hall and honoring Oklahomans during their lifetime. The interactive Gaylord-Pickens Museum, home of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, was opened in 2007 with the intent of honoring these and other accomplished Oklahomans.

For consideration to be inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, individuals must be nominated. Anyone can make a nomination, and honorees can be either living or deceased. To be eligible for nomination, the individual must reside in Oklahoma or be a former resident of the state; have performed outstanding service to humanity, the state of Oklahoma and the United States; and be known for his or her public service throughout the state. 2017 nomination forms can be downloaded from OklahomaHoF.com.

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame preserves Oklahoma's history and inspires pride in the state by supporting education, celebrating the accomplishments of Oklahomans and leading the industry in publishing books on Oklahoma history. Through each of its programs and the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, the organization is dedicated to promoting Oklahoma's living heritage through its people.
