THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL Begins Run 2/5 at Pollard Theatre

The Pollard Theatre in historic downtown Guthrie invites theatre lovers to take a trip of the heart and mindduring their production of The Trip to Bountiful starting Friday, February 5, 2010.

The Trip to Bountiful is a poignant story following aging widow Mrs. Watts in her search for strength and survival. Living with her son and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Watts fears she's a burden while simultaneously withering under their watchful eye. In an attempt to regain some sanity, Mrs. Watts sneaks away to her former home in Bountiful, hoping to find peace-of-mind. What she finds instead are the realities of death and ultimately, the courage to survive.

"The Trip to Bountiful is a story that focuses on our desire to hold onto our past and to take hold of our futures," Pollard Artistic Director W. Jerome Stevenson said. "We are so thrilled to have this talented cast, led by the incomparable Brenda Williams, to bring Horton Foote's beautiful little play to life."

The Trip To Bountiful begins Friday, February 5, 2010 and runs through Saturday, February 27, 2010 with various evening and matinee performances. Tickets range in price from $12.50-17.50 and can be purchased online at www.thepollard.org or by calling (405) 282-2800.

Groups of 10 or more are eligible for group discounts and the Pollard also offers Student Rush tickets at a cost of $8.00 for any performance. Student Rush tickets go on sale only at the Box Office one hour before show times, and students are required to show a valid student I.D and pay in cash. The Pollard offers no guarantee of availability and will not take reservations for Student Rush tickets, which are good for available seating only.

The Pollard Theatre is produced by the Guthrie Arts and Humanities Council and sponsorship for the Pollard's 23rd Season is provided by Rose Rock Bank and Union Bank. The Pollard Theatre is also a recipient of a marketing grant from the Inasmuch Foundation. Additional funding is provided by the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment of the Arts.A Territorial Christmas Carol: An Oklahoma Tradition is supported with an additional sponsorship from BancFirst.

Thoroughly Modern Millie

Tony-award winning Thoroughly Modern Millie bursts onto the Pollard stage next spring! Based on the 1967 film, Thoroughly Modern Millie follows small-town girl Millie Dillmount as she escapes to New York hoping to find a rich man and a life of her own during the Roaring Twenties. Instead, she discovers jazz music and the flapper lifestyle. Things only get more complicated when she takes a room at a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China. With a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers, Thoroughly Modern Millie will have you dancing the Charleston all the way home!
