Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre (CityRep) opens their Tenth Anniversary Season with the 1997 Tony Award-winning THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO by Alfred Uhry. This is the second play in what is called Mr. Uhry's Atlanta series. The first was DRIVING MISS DAISY, which CityRep produced in 2004.

THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO (by Alfred Uhry, author of DRIVING MISS DAISY) takes place in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1939. GONE WITH THE WIND is having its world premiere, and Hitler is invading Poland, but the Freitags of Atlanta are much more concerned with who is going to Ballyhoo, the social event of the season. The family gets pulled apart and then mended together with plenty of comedy, romance and revelations along the way. CityRep will partner with Theatre OCU for this production.

Featured in the CityRep production is Jeanie Cooper as Boo Levy, Donald Jordan as Adolph Freitag, and Wendy Welch as Reba Freitag. Also appearing is Augusta Abene, Aaron Wertheim, Meghan Wagner and Dillon Horner. Miss Cooper last appeared with CityRep as Daisy in DRIVING MISS DAISY. Mr. Jordan is the CityRep Producing Artistic Director, and Miss Welch is an award-winning actress from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Guest Artist Matthew Gray, a member of the Dallas Theater Center Company, will direct the production. Mr. Gray last appeared with CityRep as Harpagon in THE MISER. The production is designed by Debra Hicks, with Costume Design by Aaron Patrick Turner, Lighting Design by Kathrine Mitchell, Sound Design by Matthew Gray, and Properties Design by Jon Haque and Donald Jordan. Steve Emerson is the Production Stage Manager.

THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO will play in the CitySpace Theatre at the Civic Center Music Hall at 201 N. Walker in downtown Oklahoma City. Previews begin on Friday, September 16 at 7:30 pm. The Opening Night is Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 pm, with the final performance on Sunday, October 2 at 1:30 pm.

Tickets are $8 (Student Rush Tickets and Military Personnel with Military ID), $20 (groups of eight or more), $30 (matinees) and $35 (evening performances), and may be purchased by calling the Civic Center Music Hall Box Office at 1.800.364.7111 or 405.297.2264.
