CityRep Presents THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, Beginning Today

Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre continues their Eleventh Season with Oscar Wilde's sparkling comedy, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, Wilde's most produced play. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST is a farcical comedy in which the main characters maintain fictitious personae in order to escape burdensome social obligations. Its high farce and witty dialogue have helped make THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST Wilde's most enduringly popular play. CityRep is co-producing with TheatreOCU and Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park to provide Oklahoma City with an elegant and sumptuous production of this classic comedy. This production is rated PG.

Starring in the CityRep/TheatreOCU/Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park production is Michael Jones as Lady Bracknell (The Normal Heart; August: Osage County; The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Andi Dema as John Worthing (CityRep Debut), Hunter Paul as Algernon Moncrieff (CityRep Debut), Renee Lawrence as Gwendolyn Fairfax (CityRep Debut), Lauren Thompson as Cecily Cardew (CityRep Debut), Kathryn McGill as Miss Prism (CityRep Debut), Dwight Sandell as the Reverend Doctor Chasuble (My Fair Lady), Brett Garrett as Lane (CityRep Debut), James Tyler Kirk as Merriman (CityRep Debut), Alexis Graves as Maid (CityRep Debut), and Taylor Weinhold as Maid (CityRep Debut).

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST is Directed by D. Lance Marsh, Set Design is by Jack Yates, Lighting Design is by Kathryn Eader, Costume Design is by Robert Pittenridge, Sound Design is by Jeff Sherwood, and Properties Design is by Sydney Russell. Steve Emerson is the Production Stage Manager.

Tickets are $20, and $8 for Students (with ID) and may be purchased by calling the OCU Ticket Office at 405-208-5227. Tickets may be purchased online through the OCU Ticket Office website at www.okcu.edu/ticketoffice. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST will play in the Burg Theatre in the Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center which is located at NW 25th and Blackwelder on the campus of Oklahoma City University.
