In award-winning playwright Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj’s tragicomedy, drag queens Chi-Chi and Cornbread are trapped on the rooftop of a small drag club, which is partially submerged underwater. The club is located in St. Bernard Parish, New Orleans, Louisiana, during the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in late August 2005, after the levees broke. Surrounded by a river of dirty water filled with trash, dead animals, bodies, telephone poles, and hungry gators, the two queens wait to be rescued while contemplating their faith, identity, childhood, friendship, and existence.
