This new play about Arthur Miller, Marilyn Monroe and Elia Kazan follows their lives framed around Millers testimony before the House Unamerican Activities Committee or HUAC hearings. The show, premiering at Theater for the New City, tells the story of one of the great trios in American theatrical history, while focusing on these historic hearings. We see three lives intersect, watch their relationships evolve and, along the way, meet Hedda Hopper, the committee chairman and a shadowy producer of the spectacle. The Unamerican is a powerful show in which a cast with experience ranging from Broadway to cinema portrays relationships through the lens of history. Marilyn Monroe, Millers fiance and Kazans former lover, becomes entangled in the proceedings that threaten to derail more than their careers. The Unamerican is a powerful new play that looks at three great American lives all intertwined in one story set at a time when it was truly dangerous to be an outspoken American.
