Ashley Monique Menard’s Put Down the Pot & Pick Up the Mic is a solo cabaret in three acts tracing one woman's journey from performance to presence — from the polished, practiced self she built to survive, to the messy, searching, more alive person she finds underneath it.
Moving through addiction, dissociation, identity, and recovery with equal measures of camp theatricality and raw honesty, the show weaves fourteen songs — spanning Alanis Morissette, Amy Winehouse, Sia, Sara Bareilles, Lady Gaga, Tracy Chapman, and the musical theatre canon — into a single unbroken narrative arc.
It's funny. It's theatrical. And somewhere in the middle, when the music gets quiet and the mirror comes out, it's something else entirely.
Put Down the Pipe and Pick Up the Mic is suitable for mature audiences. Running time approximately 75 minutes with no intermission.
