FIRESIDE MYSTERY THEATRE PRESENTS Love Potions & Other Poisons

A Live Recording of the Celebrated Podcast

Fireside is back for a new 2025 bi-monthly residency at the Slipper Room!  Fireside Mystery Theatre, an acclaimed, award-winning audio theater production company, is proud to kick off the season with the world premiere of Love Potions & Other Poisons coming to New York City on Sunday, February 16th at 5:30 pm (doors open at 5 pm) at the Slipper Room.

Now celebrating its tenth year as a podcast, Fireside Mystery Theatre is an original audio podcast performed and recorded in front of a live audience. Styled in the fashion of old-time radio theatre with a decidedly modern macabre sensibility, the popular podcast has been running since 2014 with over 3 million downloads. Fireside has also received accolades from The New York Times and awards from the Rhode Island International Film Festival, New Jersey Web Fest, New Zealand Web Fest and many more.

Love Potions & Other Poisons features four romantic tales of love— and murder. Jilted lovers, double crossing cons, evil spies who finally express their feelings on a mission to self terminate, a Hollywood diva with a trail of dead paramours, a lonely loser looking for the pheromonal cheat code to love . . .  and so much more.

Notable Accolades:

The New York Times hails Fireside Mystery Theatre as “a delightfully stylized variation of the classic ‘old timey radio’ tradition.”

Popsugar says Fireside Mystery Theatre has “an incredible cast that brings to life stories you have to hear to believe.”

About.com describes Fireside Mystery Theatre as “like a combination of listening to a cathedral radio and constructing scenes with your mind’s eye.”

Love Potions & Other Poisons will be the inaugural offering in the new bi-monthly 2025 residency at The Slipper Room (167 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002) on NYC’s Lower East Side with a full cast, sound effects, an improvised musical score, and musical acts that complement our anthology of stories.

About Fireside Mystery Theatre Fireside Mystery Theatre, an acclaimed and award-winning audio theatre production company, has endeavored to bridge the gap between the podcast era and the Golden Age of Radio since its inception in 2011. We peddle in engaging characters, macabre thrills, surprise twists, unforgettable music, and liberal doses of good humor! Through our work, we have sought to refine the techniques that are specific to this type of performance and production — honoring the old-time radio tradition while adding updated takes, modern plotlines, and technology — all with the goal of entertaining and enlightening our audience as we throw in a few chills and chuckles along the way.
