GaySL: Coming Out of the Closet in Sign Language

The New York Theater Festival proudly presents GaySL, Ben Batchelder’s new short comedy play about coming out of the closet to be performed entirely in American Sign Language. 

Synopsis: Victor’s mom is Deaf. And terrifying. Victor is about to come out of the closet and introduce his new boyfriend, when his brother steals the spotlight and makes an equally groundbreaking confession: he’s an accordion player.

Both emotionally poignant and uproariously funny, this play is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore Deaf culture, what it means to be gay, and the struggle to live up to family expectations. Come see this talented mixed cast of Deaf, CODA and hearing actors.
