Broadway and TV actor Michael Pemberton, soon to be seen on the upcoming season of HBO's Emmy Award-winning comedy Veep, is set to star in the premiere of the powerful new drama BROKEN which will run from April 9-26 at Shetler Studios Theatres (244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor). The play centers on the interactions between a prison doctor and a teenage inmate who committed a terrible mass shooting spree less than a month ago.

Written by David Meyers, the production will feature direction from Daisy Walker, who worked with Des McAnuff as Assistant Director for Jersey Boys and was also Assistant Director on Aaron Sorkin's The Farnsworth Invention. Playwright Meyers will also star in the play as the shooter, opposite Pemberton as the doctor. Pemberton has appeared in numerous Broadway plays including The Farnsworth Invention, I'm Not Rappaport, Not About Nightingales, Mamma Mia and Hedda Gabler and is also known for the role of Malcolm for three seasons on the hit FX series Damages. He has also been seen on The Good Wife, The Following, Law & Order and The Sopranos.

In BROKEN, Kevin McFadden hasn't spoken to anyone since he killed 17 people at a shopping mall three weeks ago. But when a prison doctor takes an unexpected interest in his case, Kevin decides to meet with him - revealing a troubled past that unites them both. Alex Ashrafi will also appear in the cast, with the creative team including Kevin Judge (Set Design), Patricia Nichols (Lighting Design) and Dina Epshteyn (Assistant Director).

As a writer, David Meyers' plays have been read and performed Off-Broadway by the Abingdon Theatre Company, Platform Group, Project Y, Naked Angels, at the Lark Play Development Center, and at professional theaters in New Jersey, Minneapolis, Washington, DC, and New Mexico. He also worked in Communications at The White House and also as a speechwriter in the U.S. Senate.

BROKEN will run from April 9-26 at Shetler Studios Theatres (244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor) with performances Thur.-Sat. at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. There are also 8pm performances on 4/13, 4/15, 4/21 & 4/22. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online www.BrokenThePlay.com
