The premise is simple: take 25 young (under 30-years-old) playwrights in the Ensemble Studio Theatre Youngblood lab program, have them draw titles, actors, directors and songs from a hat, and give them one week to write, rehearse and produce a ten-minute play.

Oh, and then give it a name and open it to the public. Asking for Trouble, as the three-day series now in its tenth year is called, is continuing at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street, through Saturday, October 8. There are four programs of one quarter of the plays each and curtain times are 7:00pm, 9:00pm and 11:00pm with a matinee Saturday at 3:00pm (for a total of twelve presentations).

Tickets are $12. Order in advance online or email boxoffice@ensemblestudiotheatre.org to pay at the door. For a schedule and to order online, click www.ensemblestudiotheatre.org/now-playing/current-productions/askingfortrouble2011/ .

Youngblood is the Ensemble Studio Theatre's collective of emerging professional playwrights under the age of 30. Founded in 1993, Youngblood serves as a creative home for the next generation of theatre artists. Youngblood provides artistic guidance, peer support, regular feedback and a fertile production environment which allows our member playwrights to hone their skills and explore their craft. We also provide exposure to the public and the press, professional outreach to the industry, and opportunities for production and publication.
