Boomerang Theatre Company Presents THE COMEDY OF ERRORS 6/20-7/25

The Boomerang Theatre Company (Tim Errickson, Artistic Director; Francis Kuzler, Managing Director) will present Shakespeare's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS from June 20th thru July 19th, 2009 in Central Park. The production will also play a special performance in Fort Totten Park in Bayside Queens on July 25th, 2009. The show is an outdoor production, and is free to the public. THE COMEDY OF ERRORS follows two sets of estranged twins who come face to face to face to face in the bustling port of Ephesus, . Wives mistake their brothers-in-law for their husbands, masters confuse their servants, and kitchen wenches go wild in a whirlwind of switcheroos and witty wordplay - with a bit of love thrown in.

The production will be directed by Philip Emeott (Director of Boomerang's KING LEAR, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, and DANGEROUS CORNER), with costumes by Carolyn Pallister and fight direction by Carrie Brewer. The Cast includes Steven Beckingham, Emily King Brown, Catherine Dowling, Jon Dykstra, Stuart Green, Sarah Hankins, Walter Hoffman, Uriel Menson, Michael Mraz, Michael Alan Read, Christian Toth, and Lillian Wright. The Production Stage Manager is Jack Lynch.

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS begins previews June 20th at 2pm. Opening day is Saturday June 27th. The performance schedule is as follows:

June 20th and 21st at 2pm (previews)
June 27th and 28th at 2pm (opening)
July 11th and 12th at 2pm
July 18th and 19th at 2pm
July 25th at 4pm (in Fort Totten Park, Bayside Queens)

Performances take place on "The Rock", Boomerang's performance space in Central Park for the last 9 years. Audiences can enter the park at 69th Street and Central Park West, and follow the path left onto the lawn. "The Rock" is located between the road and the Bridal Path, and is extremely easy to find.

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS will play one special event performance in Fort Totten Park in Bayside, Queens. The performance will take place inside the gazebo overlooking Long Island Sound, and is free to the public. Audiences can enter Fort Totten Park at 212th Street off Cross Island Parkway. THE COMEDY OF ERRORS is free to the public. Unlike other free Shakespeare productions, the show requires no tickets and no reservations. Audiences can merely show up, find a spot of grass to sit on, and enjoy the show. Bringing blankets, picnic lunches or a cool drink is always encouraged.

The Boomerang Theatre Company is an award-winning Off-Off-Broadway theatre company based in New York City. Boomerang annually produces a season composed of three programs: free outdoor Shakespeare productions in parks throughout NYC; an indoor repertory series of new, classic and neglected plays; and FIRST FLIGHT, a new play development series of workshops and readings.

In the past ten years, the Boomerang Theatre Company has produced 41 full productions, including six world premieres, seven New York City premieres and reinvented producing in repertory for small theatres. In 2008, the company was the recipient of the Caffe Cino Fellowship from the New York Innovative Theatre Awards for consistent production of outstanding work. Boomerang has been awarded two New York Innovative Theatre Awards for Burning the Old Man by Kelly McAllister (out of six nominations), a 2002 OOBR Award for The Misanthrope by Moliere, and was selected as a September 2005 recipient of The STAR Initiative from WNYC radio. The company also presented the premiere of Irvine ("Trainspotting") Welsh's You'll Have Had Your Hole in the NYC International Fringe Festival. Two plays produced by Boomerang have been published in annual Plays and Playwrights anthologies.
