Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab Presents Rosemary Loar's WATER FROM THE MOON at Snapple Theatre Tonight

The not-for-profit musical theater development group Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab (formerly Musical Mondays Theatre Lab) has announced that the third presentation of its 2013-2014 season is the new musical, WATER FROM THE MOON, written by MAC Award Winning Cabaret Performer Rosemary Loar (photo) and her husband Robert W. Atwood. In fall 2011, MMTL presented the Loar/Atwood musical Spoolie Girl, which was subsequently nominated for 11 "Best of the Fest" awards at the 2012 Midtown International Theatre Festival, including winning the award for "Outstanding Music and Lyrics" and a nomination for "Best Production of a Musical."

WATER FROM THE MOON features a theatrical score with a nod to rock and tells the story of the ultimate reconciliation of an Irish daughter and her hard-headed father. Sort of heartbreaking, but always with emphasis on the absurd humor created by their acrimony. The cast includes Loar (Sunset Boulevard), Rich Hebert (Billy Elliot), Alicia Irving (Les Miserables), and Emily Mikesell (Lone Star Love). The director is Lisa Milinazzo (Slain In the Spirit). Musicians will include John DiPinto on piano and Shannon Ford on drums. Cabaret performer Raissa Katona Bennett (Phantom of the Opera) will be the narrator.

The presentation will be tonight, January 16 at 6:30 PM at The Snapple Theatre Center on Broadway and 50th Street. 4th Floor, Anne Bernstein Theatre. Reservations at 212-989-6706 or MusicalMondays@aol.com. Regular Admission: $18. Students/Seniors $13.

Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab, which was founded by the late Bick Goss in 1999, develops new works for the musical theater through a multistep reading program. Works vary in style and are selected from professional recommendations as well as formal and informal associations with organizations like the National Alliance of Musical Theaters and The BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop.
