Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director) will present their Tenth Anniversary Season at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theater, including Off Broadway revivals of modern classics by the iconoclastic Joe Orton and Charles Ludlam - writing in the tradition of Marlowe and Aristophanes - alongside Revelation Readings of Jacobean gems such as 'Tis Pity She's a Whore and The Roaring Girl, and of rarities like the American Premiere of Nabokov's Tragedy of Mr. Morn, Brecht & Weill's musical Happy End, and Thornton Wilder's Alcestiad, offering something for every lover of classic theater to relish.

With the Jacobean plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries as their touchstone, Red Bull Theater's Tenth Anniversary season builds upon their unique history and mission to present vital and imaginative renderings of heightened language plays from all eras and cultures, expanding programming as they begin a second decade of sharing great classic stories.

Originally titled "Comedy of Horrors," Loot is one of the 20th century's most subversive comic masterpieces. Wickedly in love with words and sex, it's Feydeau by way of Wilde and Genet, in a merciless lampoon of religious hypocrisy, middle-class British morality, and blind faith in authority.

Charles Ludlam's The Mystery of Irma Vep is a true American classic of theatrical language and transformation, careening outrageously through Shakespeare, Victorian melodrama, Poe and Hitchcock. With just two actors engaged in a high style quick-change act, this hilariously horrifying drama marks the return of the Ridiculous to the West Village - replete with werewolves, vampires and mummies.

Performances will be Tuesday & Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm, Thursday & Friday evenings at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm, and Sunday matinees at 3pm at the Lucille Lortel Theater (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker & Hudson Streets). Single Tickets for productions will go on sale starting Friday November 1st. Memberships are available now - Members receive priority ordering opportunities and can make reservations for productions early. Membershipsfrom $20 may be purchased online at www.redbulltheater.com or by phone at (212) 352-3101.

Monday October 7 (7:30pm) will offer a special benefit reading and party to kick off the Tenth Anniversary Season: hear one of the greatest plays in all Jacobean drama performed by some of the finest actors in New York - 'Tis Pity She's A Whore by John Ford, directed by Jesse Berger, featuring Christian Camargo, Santino Fontana, Adam Green, Heather Lind, Matthew Rauch, Rocco Sisto, Emily Swallow, Michael Urie, and more to be announced.

Join the cast, along with special guests Heidi Armbruster, Michael Cerveris, Patrick Page, Jennifer Ikeda, Kathryn Meisle, Liv Rooth, Miriam Silverman, John Douglas Thompson, Rachel Brosnahan ("House of Cards"), Marc Vietor and more for festivities after the reading. Red Bull Theater, hailed as "the city's gutsiest classical theater" by Time Out New York, is the not-profit Off-Broadway theater company specializing in plays of heightened language, with the Jacobean plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries as its cornerstone. In the 2012 season, building on its history of Revelation Readings and In The Raw Workshops, the company expanded its production repertoire to include world classics from all eras, starting with Jean Genet's The Maids. Red Bull Theater embraces the imagination of theatergoers through intimate, imaginative productions of great classic stories.

Acclaimed as "a dynamic producer of classic plays" by The New York Times, Red Bull Theater has previously staged productions of Shakespeare's Pericles, the anonymous Revenger's Tragedy, Marlowe's Edward the Second, Middleton's Women Beware Women, Webster's The Duchess of Malfi, the Off Broadway premiere of Dekker, Ford & Rowley's The Witch of Edmonton, a major Off Broadway revival of Jean Genet's The Maids, a new version of Strindberg's The Dance of Death by Mike Poulton, and the first Off Broadway revival of Volpone in over 50 years. The New York Times called Pericles "the stuff of dreams," The Revenger's Tragedy "Dynamite!," Edward the Second "fired with excitement," Women Beware Women "exuberant, vividly acted," The Duchess of Malfi "boiling drama;" The Witch of Edmonton was hailed by Ben Brantley as "a singular blend of psychological realism, naturalistic detail and lurid, black-magic-shadowed sensationalism" and The Maids as "wonderful." The Maids was nominated as Outstanding Revival by both the Drama League and Lucille Lortel Awards, and Volpone received critical accolades such as "wonderful & appealing" from The New York Times and "triumphant" from Associated Press, among others.

Red Bull Theater's work has been recognized with multiple Callaway, Drama League, Lucille Lortel, and OBIE Award nominations and Awards. Red Bull Theater has staged over 125 readings through its ongoing OBIE Award-winning Revelation Readings, named by the Village Voice "Best Play Reading Series," and has developed several new plays of heightened language and classical adaptations through its In-the-Raw workshop series. Red Bull Theater reaches out to NYC students of all ages through "Direct Address" education programs teaching Shakespeare in middle schools, providing student matinees of productions, and offering master classes in classical acting. Post-play "Bull Session" discussions with scholars following selected Sunday matinees and readings are free and open to the public.
