Oslo Camerata consists of professional musicians and young talents from the Barratt Due Institute of Music. The ensemble's Artistic Director is Stephan Barratt-Due. Oslo Camerata has attracted significant attention through several overseas tours, leading the orchestra to renowned festivals and concert halls in several countries in Europe, as well as in India and Brazil.
Truls Mørk is one of the world's leading cellists of his generation, and is known for his passionate interpretations. He has gained international recognition for his acclaimed recordings and concerts across the world. Mørk is affiliated with Oslo Camerata as a permanent guest director, and will lead the orchestra from his soloist position for this performance.
The musicians will perform pieces that include Norwegian music by composer Rolf Wallin. Wallin is known for mixing musical genres in his compositions and for his methods of developing musical raw material, for which he has created his own principle – «crystal chords». These are described as harmonic crystals that are based on a three-dimensional harmonic model, where three key intervals are constantly repeated. In the work Ground, the audience will able to experience how this sounds.
The evening will also feature music by Italian Boccherini, who was also a cellist, and whose cello concertos are among his most famous works. Brahms’ String Sextet No. 2 in G Major is a much-played work, which features many technical and melodic contrasts.
