Richmond CenterStage has announced its new live comedy series as West End Comedy Downtown begins its run of special Friday shows on November 4 at 8:00 p.m. in CenterStage's Rhythm Hall.

West End Comedy uses audience suggestions to create their improvised short-form scripts and plotlines in the style of the popular television series Whose Line Is It Anyway? and What's My Line, which features performers that completely invent their dialogue based on ideas they receive from those in the crowd. This run of shows in Downtown Richmond will mark their first performances at any of the CenterStage venues.

"All of us at West End Comedy are thrilled to be performing at the premier venue in Richmond," said James Wasilewski, founder and director of West End Comedy. "We look forward to bringing our brand of improv to CenterStage and are excited to interact with downtown audiences during our upcoming Friday shows!"

"There is nothing quite like being in the audience for a live improv comedy show, and CenterStage is thrilled to present these performances as part of our 2011-12 season," said Richmond CenterStage Executive Director Richard M. Parison, Jr. "We are particularly excited to partner with West End Comedy because they are a Richmond-based local arts organization. Their performances in Rhythm Hall will expose them to new audiences throughout the region."

Performances of West End Comedy Downtown will take place on the following Fridays at 8:00 p.m.:

November 4, 2011 January 13, 2012 February 3, 2012 March 16, 2012
