Virginia Musical Theatre (VMT), the Commonwealth's only professional theatre company dedicated to producing musicals exclusively, today announces the exciting area premiere of Disney's FREAKY FRIDAY. Labeled one of Buzzfeed's top five favorite new musicals, the contemporary, family-friendly pop/rock musical will appeal to fans of shows like DEAR EVAN HANSEN, LEGALLY BLONDE, and HAMILTON.

The new show stars Alet Taylor, from the recent tour of FREAKY FRIDAY, and New York-based actress Dani Apple, as the feuding mother and daughter who both wish they could switch places with the other for a day. See what happens when they magically wake up one "Freaky Friday" in each other's body and begin a journey of self-discovery and empathy neither one could have imagined.

"The coolest thing about this show is that anyone from any generation can relate to it," said Apple. "This show is about finding yourself in your own skin and how we can always lean on our families for constant support and guidance. Sometimes, it takes an out-of-body experience, a literal one in this case, to find out who you really are and trust that the people you love will always be there to support you."

Directed and choreographed by Pierre-Jacques Brault (VMT's MAMMA MIA, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and THE LITTLE MERMAID, and the NY premiere of KRIS KRINGLE: THE MUSICAL), FREAKY FRIDAY features a cast of 31 Virginia area professionals and a live, orchestra led by Musical Director Allan Decipulo.

Due to some mild language and teenage themes, FREAKY FRIDAY is recommended for ages eight and up.

Call 757-340-5446 or visit the Sandler Center Box Office to purchase tickets for the area premiere of Disney's FREAKY FRIDAY.
