The Lion in Winter
Directed by Marla Ladd
A comedy about living happily ever after.
It is Christmas time and King Henry II of England and his family are gathering to decide which son gets to inherit the throne. Henry promises the kingship to his favorite son, John. Eleanor, Henry's captive wife and Queen of England, wants Richard, her favorite, to be king. Geoffrey, the middle son, is left with nothing but a promise to be Johnny's chancellor when he becomes king.
King Phillip of France arrives and demands that either his sister Alais (Henry's mistress) marry Richard immediately or Henry return her large dowry. Alais wants nobody but Henry, but Henry has decided to give her to John when he becomes king.
Philip, the Queen, and her sons scheme to out-manoeuver the mighty Henry and each other to win the Throne of England, the hand of the French princess, and control of the wealthy French province, the Aquitaine.

Seeking actors for the following roles:
Richard the Lionheart m26-30
As a renowned warrior and paragon of chivalry as well as Henry's oldest living son, he sees himself as Henry's rightful heir and will accept no less than everything he feels he is due. But as Eleanor's favorite - in spite of their love/hate relationship - Henry is determined to pass him over.

Geoffrey m18-25
A man of energy and action, he is the brains of the family. Feeling unloved and overlooked by his parents, he is coldly scheming and radiates little or no personal warmth, but may be the best suited to join in their stratagems and endless plotting against each other.

John m 12- 17
The youngest son of Henry and Eleanor, he is sulky, immature, and spoiled. In spite of his weakness and cowardice, he is Henry's favourite. He constantly vacillates and is easily tricked and manipulated by Geoffrey.

Alais Capet f18-23
A beautiful, young Princess of France. Originally intended as a bride for Richard, she has fallen deeply in love with Henry and become his mistress. Underestimated by everyone, she comes into her own and eventually asserts herself.

Philip II, King of France m18-24
Alais' brother, the young King of France is not as accomplished as Henry in manipulating people, but has an army, a treaty, and a secret to wield as needed.
