The Last Five Years: A Musical

An emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two people who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the show's unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically; the two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.
Featuring a two-person cast, The Last Five Years is a great opportunity for actors with both range and stamina.
All roles are available. Seeking actors of all ethnicities and gender expressions, BIPOC actors are encouraged to attend. Genders listed for all roles are the gender of the character, not necessarily the actor. All students and community members may audition. Practicum credit is available and high school students are eligible for dual credit.
REHEARSES: Monday-Thursday evenings March 22-April 15. 7-9PM (individual music rehearsals may occur before March 22.)
OUTDOOR PERFORMANCES: April 16-18, 2021 at Shakespeare in the Glen on the BC campus and to a world-wide livestreaming audience.

AUDITION LOCATION: The Seidule Theatre on the Brazosport College Campus. Due to Social Distancing guidelines, you may be asked to wait in your car a bit if the audition location is at capacity. You must wear a mask when on campus.

Catherine: Character arcs from an ambitious, fresh-faced girl in a new relationship to a woman stunned by a betrayal and a divorce that she is only beginning to understand. Vocal range top: D#5. Vocal range bottom: F3.
Jamie: Character arcs from an ambitious guy on a promising first date with a dazzling career to someone who is blinded by success and ego. He is very lovable yet makes unintentional choices that sabotage his own happiness. Vocal range top: Bb4. Vocal range bottom: A2.
COVID-19 NOTE: Brazosport College’s social distancing guidelines will be in effect during all auditions, rehearsals, and performances. The show will play in front of an in-person audience and be live-streamed to a large audience.
